Posted by Tom Brennan on 2003-11-14, 14:28:28 (12.251.6.160)
The Heresy 2 uses different, and supposedly better, midrange and tweeter. The tweeter in the 2 certainly has more extended response than the EV used in the older Heresy. .......

L---Some guys tame the Heresy somewhat by changing where the midrange driver wires into the taps on the transformer in the crossover, this drops the level of the midrange a little. Perhaps you can do .......

AP---The best placement for a Heresy is in a dumpster. However they do work better on their sides then upright. I suggest you find an Altec 890C Bolero, a small "true" Altec with an incredible 10" woo .......

The only room suitable for Heresys is a "cell of little ease". Had the Heresy been available to the Inquisition they wouldn't have needed the rack and strappado. Cornwalls on the other hand should sou .......

Well if you like Heresys fine but make sure you like them. I recently ditched a pair that I was quite taken with at first. I enjoyed the clarity and dynamics but in the long run the Skilsaw tonal bala .......

mrh---Yeah, the good bass response of the Cornwall gives them a robust tonal balance that softens the ferocity of the mid and tweeter. The Cornwall adds good bass to the basic Klipsch virtues of excel .......

I never heard the new Heresys but people may be reacting to their experiencs hearing older ones which (IMO) sound pretty bad. Excellent clarity and dynamics for the size but a poor bass shy tonal bala .......

You're tilted alright. As I've said many times, I think the Cornwall and Khorn are good speakers. And I've offered suggestions on how to improve the sound of LaScalas. But when one has fallen from the .......

THe ideal positioning for Heresys is to place them face down on a deep pile carpeting. But yes, the risers were intended to tilt them back slightly, I think PWK thought on the floor and tilted was the .......

Some do and some don't. Some high-E speakers have good clarity and some don't; how ya gonna generalize about so many speakers? As for the Heresey, IME&O the lower the volume the better. .......

Pistol grips on a Heresy, that's funny. Front and rear, like a Tommy Gun. If that Crites guy made pistol grips for them the Klipschies would be all over themselves saying what a great mod it is. That .......

Klipsch has parts for old Hereseys, no problem there. Objectively the Heresey will have a wider frequency range, have better dynamics, play louder and have less distortion. It's a pretty damned good l .......

Steve--A simple Altec 2-way with 15" 416 woofer and the 802-806-902 compression driver on the 511B or 811B horn is easy to build and will give comparable performence to a Cornwall and IMO better sound .......
