I have the Pioneer sx 636 and at one time owned the sx 650, sx 750. IMHO the '30' series sounded and looked a bit better. I like the front face of the '30' series much more than the '50' and sound wis .......

I pretty sure the SX-750 is almost identical to one of the BIG Pioneer TOTL receivers in every way except it's power output. I think it's identical to the SX-1950. But ask others that are more familia .......

I have heard a 780 but I did own a 750 at one time. I always felt the 750 was up there with one of the better sounding recievers made. Excellent balance and I felt one heck of a good looking receiver .......

I bet it's a dirty Tape Monitor switch. I have a Pioneer SX 750 that had a similiar problem but it only happened in the left channel. It would 'pop' also no matter cold or warm, low or high volumes. C .......

I've never had a HK, but I own, and have worked on, a lot of Pioneer x50's. There are 2 classes of x50's, and the 750 is at the top of the lower class. The 850, 950, and 1050 are all built like the fl .......

The SX-x50's are a great line. Perhaps one of Pioneers best in many ways. I would put the 750 on par with one of the best 10 receivers ever made. And the rest of the line is just as good. charles ::: .......

The SX-770 was one step down from the SX-990 that I had. A lot of similarities between them; but both were capacitively coupled at the output which tended to give them a warmer, richer sound and worke .......

I have the SX-750 and I'm totally impressed with it's sonic qualities. Excellent clarity, dyanamics and tonal balance. It's up there wiht the Onkyo's and I would say a little past the average marantz .......

I had the SX-750, the little brother to the 1250. Basically the same machine except lower output power. But I was REALLY amazed at the sound. I mean GREAT!!!!!!!!!! It put many of my high end receiver .......

When you find a good receiver at a low price, it might have just about any name on it. I've found an Onkyo TX-8500 at $50, Kenwood KR-9600 at $40, a Carver 2000 at $30, and a Fisher 143 (gets no respe .......

Mind corroded off of my Pioneer SX-750. After that I had trouble with signal getting to the tuner cap. I direct wired from the antenna terminal dirctly to the tuner and now it's better than ever. char .......

Sounds like caps that are dying. They could be in either the power amp section(more likely) or the preamp section. It "could" do damage. Put the volume low or almost off and compare the sound to when .......

Rick, If you're looking for pioneer's, you want to avoid the SX770, 990, and 1500TD. Those are pre 1971 and have some design issues. They can be fixed, but it's a fair amount of work. The series intro .......

I have an SX-750 which had damaged vinyl woodgrain, and I peeled it off and replaced it with real walnut veneer. It went down quite well, but unsealed is kind of dark and chocolate colored. The 850/up .......

If this is running say in Class A - sure does get hot. Like cook a roast on it hot. But if you have seperate heat sinks for seperate channels check for differences. Or you could be brave, aka stupid l .......

I agree that many brands of receivers got brighter in the late 70's. In my experience, Harman Kardon x30 and Marantz 22xx are warmer than the other brands. Of what I have recently owned Yamaha 800, Pi .......

I've got a set of those "little" AS-2A's hooked up to a Pioneer SX-750. Good little bedroom system. They give a nice, full sound without vibrating the walls. Perfect for turning down to "just-barely" .......

From the sound of your Pioneer receiver, it's a later model and lower down in the line. The early '70's ones had heavy gauge steel chassis, aluminum extrusion heat sinks, and all discrete transistors. .......

I just unwrapped a Pioneer SX-750 receiver (EBAY, 50 Bucks)and am getting mediocre-to-lousey reception on FM. My equally old Panasonic table top blows it away. The signal strength meter barely budges .......

Usually the integrated is best left together. I've tried on many a unit to break it apart only to find it's best as a unit. As for seperates I personally haven't found any more "magic" than a good int .......

The SX-750 is a direct-coupled amplifier. Cap-coupled amplifiers started disappearing after around 1973. Pioneer started phasing cap-coupled amps out in 72, with the 727 and 828 (424, 525, and 626 had .......
