If a player does not require an ASIO plugin then it must be playing Direct Sound. I have never seen a player actually play ASIO without an ASIO plugin nor have I seen a soundcard with comes with an AS .......

My experience with ASIo has been very different. ASIO significantly improved the output compared to direct sound and wave out in foobar. MP never sounded as good as other players with ASIO, nor did I .......

If you are getting the Juli@, you won't need ASIO4All. Just a player that has an asio out put, like Foobar, WInamp, or xmplayer. SOme of these do not have native support, and require a plugin. Usually .......

Well, if you have a card with ASIO drivers, you can use either Foobar or Winamp which has ASIO output plugins available. As for using ASIO4ALL with an ASIO driver... I am not sure if you ARE indeed us .......

Two different things: ASIO driver for Foobar is how Foobar uses ASIO devices; and ASIO4All is an ASIO interface wrapper for a device to make it look like as if it is ASIO capable even without its own .......

That might be it. The ASIO for me in JRiver has the most clarity and resolution, but it is often slightly harsh. Using Direct Sound most of the time works out well b/c my favorite plugin does not work .......

Steve, I am not surprised at your results with asio. See most players do asio as an afterthought using a 3rd party plugin. If you have been using foobar, this is the case. Some were better than others .......

I have an M-Audio Audiophile 2496 and the Delta 410. Both allow multiple clients to access the ASIO driver at the same time. There is such a thing as multi-client ASIO drivers, but I guess the questio .......

It has nothing to do with actual ASIO though - JPlay component disguises itself as an ASIO driver. It works regardless of whether an audio interface (DAC) really supports ASIO. This means that choice .......

ASIO does sound different, and most likely it is more true to the source. I hear more detail with ASIO. It is more important with ASIO to set up a larger buffer, since it does not benefit from Windows .......

Seems you have 2 ASIO drivers installed. cPlay settings should allow you to select either one. What are you getting? Can you select these drivers in Foobar's ASIO setup? It's better to use the Lynx AS .......

Both are supported in many media players, sometimes via plugins. For ASIO, your sound card has to support it to be able to use it - otherwise you could use ASIO4ALL, which is Kernel Streaming disguise .......
