Well, in Garp ,at the time I found him acceptable, even if the film was bad, the very few first sequence were funny ( J. Irving..) It is the most overacting actor with Ford ( I like him, curiously ) a .......

I gave it three stars at Netflix. I would call it a good summer popcorn movie. CGI was all over the place in quality. Acting was so so IMO. I voiced my dislike for Damon playing Carroll Shelby some mo .......

If you mean "The Grapes of Wrath" Ford's film was made in 1940 so it was far easier to achieve an authentic look than a period film made decades later. .......
