Intersting reviews of the Benchmark products have shown up recently in HifiNews and AudioXpress. The preamplifier is probably based on the NE5532 opamp favored by Benchmark for analog output sections, .......

I haven't done a direct comparison, but based on memory, when I had the Prism DA-2 in the SET system, I'd say the DA-2 had more refinement and extension at the extreme top, more slam, and bigger sound .......

that'll depend on the receiver chip in the Benchmark. In most cases USB will probably need to go to SPDIF before going into the DAC. However, there are some USB receiver chips out there that have I2S .......

If you think this is real and the "only" thing that makes DACs great then there is no other choice. You must buy a Benchmark. There are very, very few recordings that are even near 0db. Benchmark DACs .......

FWIW, the original Squeezebox was tested by Stereophile about 2 years ago or so. A comparison was made between the SB's DAC and a Benchmark DAC1. The Benchmark was described as much better in all resp .......
