If it is like other I have opened up it may have some 10 or 15 amp fuses inside. sometimes they are scattered around and some may be a white color as well as clear glass. Check them all out with an oh .......

I just get a pair of speakers , usually the cheap ones with the wire attached and test them. Look around and find some RCA`s if you need or bring your own. Sounds like a good deal. .......

Believe me I`m not at all familiar with turntable oil but I am familiar with engines. I run engines to incredible RPM`s using synthetics but then I go home and look at my lumbering turntable spin as m .......

At least for me. I really loved the Phono section and the fine tuning it provided. I used it with 78' and 45' and all forms of inputs and it was a solid performer. It was solid state but it was smooth .......

The more desirable valecia`s have the wooden grills and not the plastic "wood like" grills. There is a few hundred dollars in re sale value difference. But either one sounds very good and with a 500 y .......

If you remove it you can check the frame and magnet bell (if any) also look for speaker wires rubbing or resting on the speaker as any wires touching will be amplified through the paper woofer. Also l .......

It sounds like the typical bad voice coil. Just for the heck of it you might try turning the speaker(box and all) over on its other side and see if it is more tolerant of the voice coil gap. A few thi .......

The design is somewhat similar to the 604 only without the horn lens so they are finicky about placement but once tuned and placed properly sound very good. I have a friend that gets tannoy from time .......

It creates a stronger magnetic field making the speaker more efficient, as more powerful amplifiers arrived there was less need for efficiency so ceramics were cheaper and didn't need to be as large. .......

Yea..I`m about 7 miles from Kevin. So mayby one of the good testing GT tubes could be bad maybe? I did test both filaments and for shorts also, I replaced and reversed the tubes with known good ones a .......

I just bought a first issue? melody. It has two 6SL7`s in front and two 6SN7`s in the rear with the 101D`s on the ends. It does sound very good and was said in working condition but I think it has .......

I think so. It is drawing the same amps no matter, It the voltage that changes as you gradually bring it up. But I`m no expert...Ive been bringing things up on variac`s for quit some time with wonderf .......

It is a single ended integated stereo grommes. You will not find it anywhere and thats why I kept it. It is as sweet as sugar through high effieciency speakers. Maybe 7 watts a channel. 8-100 ohm head .......

The weight and anti skate are supposed to be at the same settings. If you have 2 grams counter weight the skate should be set to that(2). But that is just a factory suggestion. level of the table affe .......

I`ve found with vintage units. The transports have usually vintage philips drives, earlier models with aluminum parts. This is good if you also have an optical or digital output to a digital converter .......

Pins 1 and 6 had one 12K (lower) and one 1.2K (upper) where the board looks heated. Also the 1.2K you pointed out shure enough looks heated and probably out of tolerance. It explains the poor sound he .......

I think the woofers were also manufactured by jensen in that era. The designation number was different but I think that was the case pre 60`s as far as the crossover I`m not shure. I do have a crossov .......

Ive had a few of them. Allot of the resistors were out of specs on mine and that was 10 years ago. They have great transformers but the caps and resistors are not so great. Look for weak solder joints .......

You probably knocked the pole piece out of alignment. They are not usually glued to the magnet so any shock will cause them to move. The real fix is to remove the cone wick includes the spyder or cone .......

I did remove the socks and did remove the front panel but did not remove the glue on the speaker screws. As i recall there was a bass horn formed from the woofer then stretching into where the tuning .......

I used to have a pair of 700`s. Seemed to me they had only one 8 inch woofer with a mid and a dome tweeter. Bass was lacking so i found a DCM subwoofer(non powered) to match the oak finish of the spea .......

Switches and pots are a good place to start. I have found some recievers that had a simular defect. By wicking the volume knob up to high levels it made the channel come in. I didnt use a good speaker .......

Thats right, they sound flabby with most tube amps unless their pushing out 60 watts a side or better. A high powered 100 watt and up really gets them working in the perameters they were designed for. .......

Ive got a mystery on my hands. Today i bought what i thought were magnepan`s 5 ft high 2 ft wide(approx.) They are missing the sox wich i think were black (the wood frame is black) the wood frame tape .......

cant say i seen anything like it outside an organ. Probably late 50`s I hear them 6V6 tubes sound pretty sweet though. Your right about the trannies. they are nice and big for a 6V6 so it might sound .......

They are 2-B`s dont really know much about them. The guy said there was a wire problem with one of them, he said it was something typical with magnaplaners. the fabric has a tear so i`ll need to re do .......

I dont know (right off the bat) what you found but weight has always been a deciding factor. weight says either dual mono design or at least has a single transformer capable of plenty-o-power. second .......

I`ll be fine with it. My only concern was the bend in it. Dont understand why they bent it when all its predissesors have strait out horns. Its not like JBL or ALTEC coulnt bend a horn if it was reall .......

I was at a friends place and was offered a pair of W/E cast metal horns. as i recall they were about the size of an altec 511 (maybe a tad larger) and they had a 90 degree bend that dropped down maybe .......

just bought my first pair with the green altec drivers. somebody put allot of paint on them but i got it knocked off. under the altec stickers on the side was a nearly black finish. like a super dark .......
