FWIW, I'm pretty sure it's not a copycat circuit. I'm not an engineer, but I have seen the layouts of each both externally and internally. I'm pretty sure they went about similar goals in different wa .......

Perhaps I shouldn't feel defensive about such posts at this point, but I can't help it. This kind of generalization perpetuates falsehoods that hurt my business. For one thing, not many USA made amps .......

Melody also uses all hand soldered point-to-point wiring. They even wind their own transformers. While I think they are high value, they certainly aren't "cheap." (starting at $1929 and topping out at .......

The Melody Astro Black 50 is priced between those two and provides 50wpc. No headphone output, but it's got tube voltage regulation and balanced inputs. It uses 6SN7's, KT88's, and a 101D. (Disclaimer .......

On the other hand, if he's willing to squeeze that much extra out of the budget, he'd probably get much greater impact by going from $300 speakers to $800 speakers and picking up a used $400-$500 amp. .......

That all looks correct. :) As a minor side-note, Melody is also using that same adaptive autobias ciruit. I'm assuming the technology swap was part of the manufacturing deal with Mystere. Either that .......

I've heard that too, but cannot verify. I also read in a 6moons review that Cayin was actually designed in Germany as well. The factory where spark/cayin/etc. is built is government owned and manufact .......

They are very good tubes - especially for that price. The Melody gear I sell uses all Shuguang and TJ Full Music tubes and they are generally overachievers. Chinese tubes are a ton better than they us .......

At the risk of sounding completely biased, (no pun intended) I absolutely love the AN211. That's the one I'm saving my pennies for to put in my own listening room. Its tube compliment is 5U4x1, 12AX7x .......

Hmmm, you could be correct, although I have always thought it was a rectifier. I do know that the pair of 101D's in the Pure Black 101 preamp are used for voltage regulation, with a 5AR4 taking rectif .......

Melody doesn't manufacture tubes. They manufacture tube amps and pramps, and have their stock tubes silkscreened with their own name and logo. That one looks to be a little older, but currently all of .......

Not all Chinese built amps are junk, though. There are several companies building high quality stuff there. Melody makes an 18w mono pair of 845 amps for $6k with quality parts, point-to-point wiring .......

I agree. Many 2-channel purists shudder at the thought of adding a sub, but if you pick the right one it can integrate quite well. IMHO, even for 2-channel music you're missing something important if .......

I'd love to hear how they progress after a little more break-in time. I'd suspect that you'll get 80% of the change in the first 100 hours or so, but some speakers can definitely go 250 and still have .......

I think that for a High Resolving system that sounds great at low volumes and doesn't need to have a ton of bass, I'd look at a high end monitor and nice tube integrated. They won't totally dominate a .......

I've not compared the two directly, but I suspect you'd find the SRII's to be a bit tighter and more powerful on the bottom end, as well as generally more detailed, but potentially a little more fatig .......
