You're not missing anything. :) The SHM discs I have are bit-for-bit identical to the predecessor masterings that they're based on. (See my post, above, in response to another question in this thread. .......

I thought that the 1999 Rocket remaster was slightly better than the MFSL remaster in some respects. Not quite as smooth, but more detailed. So I think it's a trade-off, and worth owning both. They're .......

It's possible that you can, but the sled motor (for example) is a $95 part. The others are probably fairly costly, as well. In all probability, it'd be cheaper to just send it back. .......
