...and loved it at Axpona. Its hard to say what contribution the uRendu made to the overall sound but the sonics were wonderful. It was airy and expansive in soundstage, never hard. Very analogue like .......

Ok Dave I tried again on my new setup(windows10/Hqplayer)and I get about the same results. Yes the R8brained 88k sounds better than the 44k version but not by much. I upsampled the 44k version via Hqp .......

I answered your email but it didn't go through. The tool to use is called a torx. I got mine from uptone. Not sure if you can get one from the hardware store. If not buy one from uptone. .......

Only problem with that charger is that it will charge the battery to 3.65v which Swenson says is a no no. I believe he indicated that this high voltage (versus the onboard 3.3v) will shorten the life .......

I run a USB cable from PC to the battery powered Regen whether it's running solo or in tandem with a 2nd Regen. I don't understand your comment. When I ran solo battery powered Regen it was 5v powered .......

Finally got just one Regen running by tapping into the little prong (that runs from the mobo to the top of the back of USB output connector ) for the 5v. And into the battery ground as you suggested. .......

I have been all over this (trying to bring 5 volts to my Regen USB output connector)and there are no easy solutions. So I think using a dual headed USB cable as you suggest is the best least intrusive .......

I use double Regens into a Benchmark II HGC dac that requires 5 v input from the USB cable. So I only modded my 1st Regen. Once I isolated my battery acoustically on an Aurious the sonics were fabulou .......

More subjective comments: after listening for 7 hours I am convinced that timbre has never been better in my system. This is especially noticed on good piano recordings. Almost lost is the superb bass .......

Ok I played around with acoustically isolating the 2 battery cell and whoa more delicacy/depth/hall sound. Funny once my cell of batteries was fully charged the charger pilot light turns green and wow .......

In my system I have 2 Regens back to back. Since the 1st Regen into the 2nd Regen does not require the 5 Volts I put the JK mod into the that Regen. My dac does require the 5 V. Since as I recall Swen .......

If you use a usb dac you really need to try the Regen. If you are trying to talk yourself out of getting the Regen you are truly missing out. This is truly breakthrough at a reasonable price. ::: TOPI .......

You are correct re caution on the Regen ps. John Swenson (the Regen designer) recommends 9 volts max unless your dac doesn't use the 5 volt USB/buss from the PC. If it doesn't then 12 volts is max. Bt .......

I think you are over reacting. Nothing is perfect, yes even usb. But to the extent that a particular noise source can be identified and reduced significantly is not a condemnation of usb. It's a cause .......

See my other post today. Regen addresses the noise created at 8khz by the usb protocol itself. Nobody else does this. Only the Uptone Regen does this, that's why it is unique. .......

I did not have the iFi purifier and I did not have the Gemini cable. But if you read the description of how Regen works you will conclude that it does not work by reducing external rfi only. It works .......

Through Grant's help I found this free software ... Cuetools 2.1.2... which decodes hdcd files into 24 bit flac files. Its a 2 step process. 1st you rip the hdcd into a 16/44 file with cueripper. Then .......

If you are now doing digital out either make sure you have configured the juli@ control panel to map through outputs 1 and 2 (or maybe 3 and 4). Its one or the other try both. Dont need to reboot. One .......

In cplay you just check a box on cplay settings...no problem at all. You dont have to shut down or reboot just stop playback, check a box and restart playback...done. .......

This tweak (yes even for us Jwindows types) is a revelation. Try it and although Serge indicates it takes a while I noticed the effects right away. Highs become more articulate with a loss of egdiness .......

You may be right but how do you also explain that putting all cues on the ssd c drive is better sonically than all the cues on a data drive? There may be a simple rationale but in the interim I'll lea .......

Whether the music files are in memory or not (the logic is strong that they are not) it still makes a difference apims (as perceived in my system)if the cues only are in a separate folder and cmp only .......

Try putting back in original shell32, shlwapi then go to cmp screen settings, add discs/folders. Then add D:\. Verify it plays files off of D. Then put back slimmed shell32, shlwapi. .......

It is my understanding that this is set up for a wired mouse (ps2 version). Yes there is huge advantage to shutting off usb but that is not peculiar to this setup. It was true of the xp pro set up too .......

I believe they(shell32 and shlwapi) are from xp sp1 home and they did not work in my system either. My thought is that, like your set of files, they probably will all have to be substituted for it to .......

It is all a matter of compromise. Yes I do miss the phase switch. But cplay sounds way way better w/o it because of the great sonic impact of the tweak. You really have to try it. But you are right we .......

That is one reason that I do not want to use the SRC/SOX upsampling on cplay, despite understanding that it is a dolby-like trick that fix a certain type of flaw. I dont use upsampling either. But wha .......
