I agree 100% with Jonathan Valin's assessment of the Magico Q3 speakers via analogue compared to their sound via digital: "Here, for the first time in my memory, Magico is showing with (gasp!) an anal .......

I have stated MANY times, both in this and in other threads, that all real reviewers should use BOTH analogue AND digital sources in a review. Scott is clearly correct that the way a recording is mast .......

Human beings CANNOT hear digital bits as music until those bits are converted back to an analogue signal. I'm not interested in this kind of sophistry. .......

The great Magneplaner 1.7 is flat to around 45hz. Plus, the QUALITY of the bass, driven by 200 tube watts, was superlative. The quality of the bass via the 2011 AN system was not even average. Setup n .......

I agree that the source is extremely important. I am also coming to suspect that the best SET amps are the way to go if you are concerned with TAS. From what I heard, the OTO does not sound anything l .......

I would prefer that any review use BOTH analogue and digital as well as BOTH tube and ss amps in evaluating a unit. From recent polls Stereophile has made of their readers, a significant percentage us .......

I was only mildly interested in the Atlantic speaker review because the "reviewer" used NO analogue in his "review". JA's measurements look promising, but I would have paid more attention to the revie .......

Music is analogue. All digital "musical" systems must convert that analogue signal into billions of bits, and, then, after manipulating those bits in trillions of ways, reconvert the bits back into an .......

IMO, you would be wrong that the new almost always destroys older equipment. In many important respects (like sounding like live acoustic music) the Quad 57, decades old, surpasses 99% of today's spea .......

An especially boring issue for me, aside from AD's column. Every "critic" strongly likes or just LOVES every reviewed component! Doesn't a real "critic" ever get, you know, critical. If every new comp .......
