I know of no place or group that is dedicated to these wonderful machines. I think your best bet is the site, "Tapeheads" where there are quite a few technicians & owners. (including me & my 1500.) .......

unless your getting a killer deal on it, I'd say walk. I owned a A77 once. NOT impressed with the tape handling. Are the heads worn/rusty? The immediate problem seems to be the capstan not making cont .......

Marantz never made a tube reciever, but some other manufacturers did, such as Scott. That being said, the classic "silver face" Marantz receivers, such as the 2270 are still available, but will more .......

amperage doesn't matter, as long as it is above what is needed. I'm guessing 1-3 amps, (1000 to 3000 ma), but your best bet is to look it up. Now the tricky part. many wall warts put out voltage that .......

Yes, in most cases tubed gear is deceptively simple, and you can't beat testing/replacing a tube before anything else. However, some tube equipment is not simple, as in the Marantz 10b. or any tubed .......

Acquired a Thorens TD 124 Mk I and rebuilt it myself. Owned it 10 years. supporting a split-weight SME 3012 With Shure M97 cart. Yes, I do plan on upgrading the cart someday, but I have other higher .......

I have a Peavey Guitar amp, model Duel 212. Peavey claims it outputs 120 watts. (Which I question.) The output tubes are push pull as you might expect, but to get that high output they parallel two 6 .......

I just cracked the case. There are two tubes internal, a "Magic eye" tube, and a mystery tube. Of course, I don't know what the mystery tube is. All I can see is a 9-pin socket. .......

Joe, I have the same problem. I removed the cuing mechanism, and found a way to fill it with "Diff Lock Silicone Oil" I found it at a local hobby shop. I'm not sure, but it *might* have made a slight .......

I've had my TD 124 installed into a wall unit since '06, and I use the mushrooms and the hardware installed but not tightened. Works for me. However, there is a group that prefers the table tightened .......

Actually, (red-faced) when I said the tubes light, they do, on the tube tester. They do not light when installed. It appears on the circuit board that the power trans is connected, however, I get no v .......

Your right, 1/4 track is the most common format. (for consumers.) 1/2 track does have a slight edge on performance, however, unless it is a deck that can accept both formats, such as the Technics RS- .......

Very cool. I just got through replacing the (cork) brakes on my Technics RS 1500US, they were very thin, and although they did work with 7" reels, they would often allow enough slip to allow the turn- .......

As a former 'cooking tech' with a large retailer, I agree with par. I measured many ovens, and especially with the older ones, sometimes the swing can be up to 50 degree's. Generally the newer one .......
