BIS started making sacds in 2003 or so. The first few were on the Sony loaned recorders and were done in DSD. After that Bis recorded in 24/44.1 until 2011 or so, when they upped the sample rate to 96 .......

Dedicated sacd mechs are definitely not plentiful now, and likely never were. There never was a plethora of audio only sacd players, even in the beginning. Dedicated sacd mechs has a nice sound to it, .......

Reversing the plug, as you describe, will work. If you do hear any difference it would be from running the current in the direct wire to the transformer and not going thru the fuse and the power switc .......

Assuming that the power at the wall is in correct polarity, best to check, as in the US the wall outlets are daisy chained and it's easy to get one wired backwards which would reverse the polarity for .......

You have SA8400, which has different transport than SA8260. On SA8260 Marantz adds a 1K resistor on one of the chips on the transport board. The TOC issues are fairly common with 8260's, but not heard .......

I was under the impression that Marantz had corrected things, regards TOC readings, with the SA-8001. With these JSACD single layer discs usually the disc does not spin, and the display will say ERROR .......

The new 8003 player is likely a better deal than the old SA-15S1. You get Reference Series chassis, better transformer, and maybe some newer circuitry inside. The 8003 is pretty new, and not much info .......

There is no risk with the Terra Firma clock as the SA-7 is supposed to be set up for the addition of an external jitter clock. Output stage mods are another story however. .......

Allen's Terra Firma clock should be a perfect fit for the SA7 as the 7 comes able to connect to an external clock, and Terra Firma is, I believe, to be made available as an external unit. .......

Your 8001 is under warranty, don't waste any time in sending it in to Marantz. It's not likely to self correct. A refurbished unit from A4Less is not the same as new unit, but does come with full one .......

Hi George, The SC3 uses a coax cable and the Tent clock uses single wires. Thus, it's a complete uninstall/reinstall procedure to switch clocks. I've thought about doing this though. As I too suspect .......

In all of my initial efforts I connected to Pin 72. This is the way Ken Tripp connects, and the same instruction you received on the RAM forum. I was also bypassing the Q119 buffer and linking to Pins .......

All discs can now be read. New laser and transport in machine. Once discs fail to be read, it only gets worse with time. Depending on location, you are usually only without machine for a couple weeks .......

It takes awhile to read rbcd's because it first looks for sacd layers at high speed, then goes to a slow speed and reads the rbcd layer. You can take the lid off and watch for yourself if you are inte .......
