I've had a number of 12ax7 preamp tubes in my Jolida 100a, and the best I found were the 5751 sylvania gold pin gold brand. By far. I found Joe's tube lore, by the way, to be right on the money with r .......

Hello, Does anyone have experience with either of these sets of monos? Also, could someone explain how one gets 30w and 60w out of a SET design? Is there a tradeoff for that kind of output? Thanks ver .......

I've used 5v4 and gz32 interchangably as rectifiers in my Dynaco Mk iiis for years, and the test settings should be the same. .......

There's an ebay seller (greengirl or something) who has said that about the GE white label 6an8 tubes w/ the "electronic" swoosh going diagonally up the front. I have no idea whether they're made by M .......

A year ago I faced the same problem with my Von S. VR 4s: wanted to set up tube monoblocs @ 60wpc on top, ss @ 200wpc on the bottom. Fortunately my ss amp had volume pots, so there wasn't a gain probl .......

I tested 30 of the 6p3s-e tubes using the 6l6 setting on my jackson 648; all but one tested fine. The one clunker had a serious short and now hangs from the xmas tree. .......

Chris, Thanks very much. My Mullard gz32 tubes have the additional designation of cv 593, which, if I'm reading the Duncan Amps info. properly, also has an indirect rating of 175mA. Does that mean it' .......

A question about rectifiers. My rebuilt dynas use 5v4 rectifiers. British-made tubes use the gz32 designation for what is, I gather, the same tube, and I've used them in place of the 5v4 tubes. But I .......

These are Will Vincent mk ii-mkiiis, with a triode switch, 6an8 drivers,5v4 rectifiers, and upgraded chokes--so not quite stock. .......

My 6n3c-e tubes have printed on them "XII 85," which I assume means--duh--1985, right? Well, they sound terrific in my MK iiis. Wondering if anyone has compared the 85 tubes to the pre-Gorbie tubes? .......

Jim, I had the same question, but Michael suggested that it wasn't really necessary. I just put them in, biased them, and that was it. They've held bias perfectly. .......

I'm using EL34s (winged c) in my Dynaco mkiiis in a bi-amp set up, and haven't found anything better for mids and highs. Better to my ear than EH or Sovtek KT88s. Interested in trying Genalex kt-66, t .......
