As stated good 12AU7 replacement. however, you have to remove jumper on pins 4 & 5. Then, remove filament wire on 12AU7 pin 9 and place on either pin 4 or 5 that does not have any wire connected. Majo .......

6BL7 looks very linear to me to -20 volts bias. 12SN7 linearity craps out after -10 volts, but very good to -10 volts. Some 6SN7 tubes do not sound that good. .......

Unless you have a non-processed college FM channel, broadcast FM is down the tubes sound wise. Look at Ocean FM internet audio. Plenty of 320mps channels for good sound. .......

Beyond using #12 gauge wires, speaker wires makes no difference. RCA high impedance wires do make a slight difference. I use Bluejeans low capacitance. .......

The Fisher 500C has superior audio transformers vs the 500B model. Install Russian K40Y-9 coupling capacitors to clean up the sound. JJ E83CC available at Amazon are best sounding. Beats any NOS 12AX7 .......

To be fair I include this. Cary Audio designed an audio amplifier with 470uF connected to I believe a GZ-34 rectifier rated for 50uF about 20 years ago. No one has complained of tube rectifier issues .......

Actually the Class B is due to the audio transformer makes up the missing current (waveform) when the tube does not fully conduct the waveform as it does in Class A. .......

I am not sure a Class A tube amp exists. At low power output they are Class A, but switch to Class B at medium to high power output. Your best bet is to buy a high power tube amp and use it at minimum .......

Gusser is correct, rectifier tubes have a maximum capacitor spec from the tube manufacture and usually sized at maximum tube current draw. .......

To answer your question about 1 volt AC ripple to the SE power tube and less ripple to the preamp tubes. PP can tolerate much higher AC ripple and 5 volts or less AC ripple works for PP power tubes. P .......

I do not think any amp exists that can have either EL34 or KT-150 as an option, but some do accommodate same family of tubes. Some have different bias settings for the different tubes. .......

You do not need a separate smoothing capacitor. Use whatever is stock in the device. Schottky will make any device sound better due to no diode switching noise unlike standard diodes. .......

On my internet tuner, all except the AAC display the 24 and kbit rate such as 24/192 or 24/320. The AAC displays such as 41kHz and 68kbit. AAC sounds better than 24.128, but not quite as good as 24/19 .......

From what I read when the station states 44.1kHz, 2 channel it is a CD. MP3 is from 24/128 kBit to 24/320 kBit. 24/128 kBit is standard lossy MP3. 24.320 kBit is still lossy MP3, but so minimal most c .......

IMO speakers are such low impedance and runs are short the wire is not critical. #14 or #12 gauge should perform fine with copper conductor wire. I use zip cord. .......

The RCA 12AX7 shot plate have too much distortion. JJ E83CC is crystal clear with punch. Some have amps that make too much distortion (usually poor coupling caps) thus cannot hear the RCA rather poor .......

I would say yes. It is only 12 watts over current and transformers are designed with some reserve capacity. Likely draw a little less than 8 amps as the transformer winding would likely supply 6 vs 6. .......

I used a Sola CV transformer and did not hear any difference, but system has not high resolution at the time. Most do not recommend a CV transformer for quality sound. .......

May be upwards of 60%. At Steve Hoffman I guess about 40%. AA has more refined audiophiles vs other sites. Tuned tube amps always sound better than SS IMO. .......

Any three terminal IC regulator will work rated at three amps (some 6B4 may draw over an amp on the filament). Just supply with 10-12 volts well filtered DC. I would use a 10,000uF capacitor on each s .......

Andy, I believe power output is more of a deciding factor vs quality of sound. Both the 300B and 2A3 sound good, but the 300B 8-10 watts out vs 3 watts is a large difference. .......

I am talking about tube amplifiers. They do have a preamp and most use .05uF to .1uF to the power tube grids from the preamp output on SE amps or on PP amps a phase inverter tube with .05 input and .1 .......

Lets go with what manufactures are using. Every SS receiver or amplifier used at least 5uF and 10uF was most often used. No exceptions I saw. Tube amplifiers never used more than .3uF I ever seen over .......

Tube matching from one channel to the other is not necessary in a SET amp. But, I would use tubes that test within 10% of one another. .......

Some amps have better HV filters than others. Why do you think all tube amps have a power supply as well filtered as the H&K Citation II with a filter choke? Most amps do not have a choke. Try connect .......

It's a Myth'. Ridiculous as many of us hear the difference with only changing the rectifiers. Cleaner sound every time. Scope pictures are everywhere of conventual diodes vs the Schottky. Zero ringing .......

SS rectifiers spoil the sound unless you use Schottky rectifiers that have no switching noise like standard SS rectifiers. Schottky are same as a tube rectifier but have no voltage drop with peak high .......

Use the transformer. At 7.6 lbs likely good for a 60 watt amp. Solid core wires do not perform less than stranded wires. Where did you read that? .......
