believe it or not I was/am going to experiment with them as mid-range drivers on multiple driver OB. My current test baffle is GW 18", Faital 10", paralleled FE-103 knock offs and a B&C D32 Super Horn .......

I think you guys are confusing the speed of sound, how fast a sound moves through air, to the speed of vibration of the air molecules making up the sound. and this is a law of physics(?) that allows .......

I first swapped the Faital 10" for a JVC AlNiCo 6 1/2" mid and basically kept PE XO 3-way 3K-375hz, Zobel and L-pad in place. Surprisingly good results with JVC. Clean midrange to near full power .......

are these OHM 10"? I believe they came out of a pair of OHM D2' or 3s, I honestly can't remember. The cone has 2720 stamped on it. They do pump out some serious bass. .......

I use a K1 and like it very much - I pretty much prefer it to my Ortofons, BUT NOT my Denon 103. The K1 (to me) sounds very similiar to the Grado Platinum Ref. on my gear. If I'm not mistaken the P77 .......

I'm suggesting trying to determine if it's the solid state circuitry [in this case the Teac's built in preamp] that's causing the brightness you are hearing by removing it from the playback chain. .......

any possibility your 76 pre has Tape EQ? if so, run 4010 as transport eliminating the Teac Pre to see if less harsh I just did this with my 4010 and finally determined it's the PB head that's the issu .......

my power tranny used to drive a 5Y3 (for tuner) and 5U4 for power amp. The new set-up is for 5U4 only. The 5U4 uses the Secondary red leads for 312 VAC (2 wires), while the 5Y3 used the white @134VAC .......
