Tommy: The secret to using a sub with the LS3/5a was to use a very high crossover (100-120Hz) to block out the "hump" in the LS3/5a bass. This is difficult but can be done. I bought my Rogers Ls3/5a .......

I tried 'em all in the day - ADS, Alpine, JL, Infinity, etc, etc. I ended up adapting a pair of LS3/5a baffles in the back shelf of my 1985 Maxima and the individual drivers (Kef B110/T27) with the ex .......

Looks good...... Why the SONY hweadshell on the SME? It would likely be heavier than the OEM headshell so would bring the mass up to better match the Denon. .......

The output of the cartridge will overload the input stage of the MC input. Also the loading impedance is way too low so it will sound boomy and muffled. But it won't damage anything so go ahead and se .......

In principle, low compliance moving coil cartridges like the Blackbird are not considered to work well in lightweight arms with knife-edge bearings. However, I used a Denon 103D in an SME 3009 Series .......

I just did it and, contrary to popular opinion, it wan't worth it (unless your Argo is worn out/damaged). No significant difference in sound. And tracking, if anything, is worse! Strangely, the new Ar .......

Actually, the problem isn't with the Ittok (which has a longer headshell) - it's with the Ekos (which has a much shorter headshell). The Lyra cartridges (and several other brands) are a REAL tight fit .......

None! The SME 3009/S2 imp was an ultralightweight arm, totally unsuited to heavy, low compliance cartridges. Having said that, I use an SME 3009/S2 (unimproved) for several years with a Denon 103D wit .......
