I have the Tascam DA-3000 also and have benefited from John's advice over the years too. The Tascam DA-3000 is an excellent stand alone AD/DA converter/recorder - especially for those who do not want .......

The Soundsmith retip is excellent but it is not exactly like the Benz. For my (low output) Glider SL, I loved the Soundsmith's most expensive retip only no cantilever but still, I prefer the new Benz .......

Just FYW I use re-writeable cdr's CDRW for transferring the 24/96 AIF files from the Alesis to the Computer. The CDRW's are good for many many transfers before they start to fail and I need to replace .......

Hi, I own a Planar 3/Bias and my mom has the RP3 tt. It is better by far. Great PRAT. The build quality is better than the Planar 3 and the newer arm is excellent. Her cartridge is a Dynavector DV20X2 .......

I found that the Grado Platinum .5mV output was miles ahead of anything in the Prestige line. There are some great options at $300 if you can go low output. Denon 103, AT OC9, etc. I have not compare .......

There are plenty of ways to get started with a vinyl setup for $300 or less. You can pick up a decent turntable used for that easily + a new mm cartridge. Maybe there is a good hi fi shop in your area .......

I really like the Alesis Masterlink as well. On the Alesis I use CD-RW to burn cd-24 discs which I then edit on the computer and then erase them -- this is not as convenient as streaming directly but .......

Hi-- I think 2 grams is too low a maximum weight for most 78s -- but I have used a Shure M91ed w/generic stylus tracking around 2.5 grams for 78 playback which worked for discs in excellent shape othe .......

Thanks for the info. I use Click Repair also. It is great for 78s less so for lps I find except using the manual setting. I finally figured out how to remove noise manually and retouch after a low aut .......
