I have used all of them. The EH El34 is the best of the bunch. Both the 6ca7 and the TS EL34B are a bit dry in the midrange. The JJ 6ca7 leaves them in the dust, my favorite EL34/6ca7 tube. ::: TOPIC: .......

I had a Technics 1401 for many years and used all kinds of carts with it. The arm mass is 16 grams but I used a lighter headshell for higher compliance carts like the AT150mlx and Ortofon OM 20. Both .......

I have quite a few DG recordings that sound great. Most of them are with conductors other than Karajan. For example, Bohm's Eroica with BPO & Okko Kamu's Sibelius Sym. No.2. I do agree a lot of DG rec .......

Thanks for all the input. It does look like the budget AT moving coils may not be anything special when compared to Denon ones. I have used both HOMC and LOMC Denons except for the 304. I just wanted .......

We are on the same page but you are forgetting that the magnitude of vector components changes with angle of the vector. So yes, the offset will change the magnitude of the skating force. That's why y .......

My experience with some: Jim McShane - Answers emails promptly, fast shipping, quality tubes. Upscale Audio - Good advice, thorough testing, can't go wrong. Tube depot - never replied to emails, not g .......

Scratch the Vandy 2CE Sigs of your list if you like to classical a lot. They are great for jazz and acoustic type stuff but that midrange driver cannot handle large scale orchestral works. Strings sou .......

The TAD 6l6WGC black plate is supposed to be similar to the old GE. Also available as Shuguang 6l6WGS for a lot less than the TAD version. I don't have them yet, gonna try them next. .......

I think it's always been that way. I never checked it until I had the urge to try 6550/kt88 tubes and I thought I could set the bias higher basically to the Prologue 5 setting. So yes, the amp can wor .......

The 6CA7 quad is new with 50 hours on it. The bias point is 62mA for all of them but I could not get over 340mV or 34mA with any of them. They sound fine though. The "adaptive" bias does not seem very .......

I put in a brand new quad of EH 6ca7 and with the screw turned to max position I could only get 340mv. So, the old tubes are probably fine. I guess i'll call Upscale Audio next. .......

So I got a set of used Svetlana 6550C dated 1996 for my prologue four. They sound pretty good but I wanted to adjust the bias to the recommended 400mv. Prior to adjusting the screw, I had around 350mv .......

I have a prologue four and I want to try KT88/6550 tubes. The PL website does have instructions on how to check and change the bias from 350mV to 400mV optimizing it for KT88 tubes. Has anyone done th .......
