I'm interested if anyone has or knows of any impulse response measurements of real sub-bass cabinets. I would love to see measurements of bass-reflex, 4th & 6th order band-pass & horn loaded. cheers, .......

hey i took a peek at your plots for the 18" cetec-gauss style cab & then took a look at the plans (not looked for a while ;) It seems to me the basic idea is to load a bass-reflex port with the k-coup .......

Good point, one to bring up with the next snake oil vendor u meet ;) I'd stick with the old braided pieces there already if i were u. Of course u could always go the whole hog & rewind the voice coil .......

Whatever cables you decide to buy, have a friend help u conduct a blind test against some 20c a meter bell wire. I'd go for the cables that look the best, as long as you're not pumping kilowatts thro .......

V. Good idea for angle stock, makes the plate cheaper too as i could use a thinner piece. Could bolt on both sides as the access plate would be facing into the exponential. For some reason angle stock .......

All i can say is when you upgrade to speakers capable of 120dB+ the acoustics of apartments develop odd characteristics, persistant pounding sounds (mediated by neighbours fists ;) Seriously though, .......

yep there will be two 650WRMS rated drivers in a triangular 30liter box so pretty cramped. I can probably make two sides from aluminium plate, both sides are in the exponential so probably get good th .......

I would love to build a watercooler for the drivers, hey could fill the VC gap with ferrofluid, would need to drain about 1000 tweeters to get enough though :( would need to keep the driver facing upw .......

It's a very simple design (copared to a LABhorn) i optimised it to require only 45 & 22.5 mitres. Its 2.8m expo fits inside a 100x80x60 cabinet with two 10 inch drivers & only 13 pieces of wood (inclu .......

Yep its a possibility to have the magnets exposed, but again it becomes a bit of a fuss fitting & sealing them. I plan to build 8+ cabs, so as little fuss as possible is required! The aluminium access .......

Dunno, but horn-load your driver & either the horn bandwidth is too low or the cone is so loaded it doesn't move enough to either beef up or space out those sidebands. I thought about doppler distort .......

some of the models that get revered as deities are tapered quad wave tube/voight pipes. They're loud by virtue of the ammount of power they can handle. .......

I was originally going to build larger folded horns or some bigger bass-reflex or even some graham holliman style velocity coupled infra-subs, but they just wouldn't have the efficeincy of a big horn. .......

Yeah i've a spare analog x-over that could be used specifically for this horn. If i use digital speaker management, i would need to buy an 8out unit or two 6 out units, as the system is currently plan .......

Cool, ~4:1 gives good efficiency and seems about right to produce a smooth slowly rising response from 105db@23hz 1w 1m. Chances are the horn will not be operated at full rated power anyhow, over 4:1 .......

I agree, the basic plan so-far is to mount two 18" drivers in a v-wedge. This horn isn't intended for sound reinforcement, there will be four 50hz horns being used as subs that'll handle the low-end f .......

10mm2 single solid copper core electrical cable, doubled up. Not the most flexible stuff in the world but it'll hardly waste any amplifier power! Keep those cones under control too. I swear by it for .......
