I think it depends on the ALSA driver, so probably it's also 24/192: I say "probably" as I own also a 24/192 DAC but it has no USB port. Glad if some can test it, I'm quite sure that it does it, since .......

Conceptually, the hard drive is better than a CD transport to feed the bitstream to the DAC, but in some cases there are sync problems and some others no. I think in your case, you have less problems .......

These speakers are efficient (91db) but they need anyway a powerful amplifier for punchy bass. Warm and mellow sound obtained using - an aluminium rack filled with sand - rack shelfes made of 2cm lime .......

I agree, jitter is another parameter. In the case of CD burning, jitter is better evaluated with a microscope (measuring pits and lands). But I do not own it :-) Cheers Roberto .......

The difference you hear is not in the support but in the way your Cd player performs error-correcting code (ECC) while reading the disc. At the time Redbook was introduced, ECC hardware was expensive .......

I forgot to say that it's important to put the shelf (which I described in the previous post) under each component of your hifi chain. In my case, I put it under the Quad 99cdp, 99pre and the Zingali .......

I also own Zingali Overture 2 with (modified) Target hifi stands, matched with Quad 99 series (cdp+pre+amp). They have a great sound to my ears. - My experience is that they prefer more copper cables .......
