you gotta find out if you're supposed to measure millivolts and TRANSLATE millivolts into milliamps, or whether you've been given true milliamp reading points. If you're measuring across a 1 ohm resis .......

....heats up more slowly than the others... or maybe it's that even though it heats up at the same rate, the B+ comes on softly, so cathode stripping doesn't occur anyway... in either case, I see now .......

Hi Jim, Yeah, I think you're right, I think it's biasing. I think everyone talking about a defective tube are probably barking up the wrong tree. I have made a bit of a specialty around modding AA-151 .......

.......in this particular case I have a secondary that is dedicated to just the rectifier tube, so I have an opportunity here to delay B+ by just delaying the low voltage to the rectifier filament ins .......

would rather have the vintage equipment than just the tubes! The problem with this kind of stuff on ebay is unfortunately a lot of people have the bad habit of saving bad tubes after they replace them .......

can I ask a dumb question? What about rather than rolling tubes to get what you want, you mod the circuit or add equalization? It just seems to me that the key is in the circuit, not the tube. It seem .......

I'll check the filament voltages for that socket and if it is 6.3 V then go ahead and fire up the remote amp with a 6SN7 in place and see wuhappens, but for the main amp I see that there are some plug .......

1. The remote speaker amp, the rsa1-l6, takes two 6L6's not 1619's, got that straightened out now. Still don't know what goes in the mystery socket, but probably a 6SN7... 2. Take back what I said abo .......

I have two: The MA1-L6 main amp and the Remote Speaker amp RSA1-L6. Unfortunately, the socket labels are painted over with black paint (from the factory?), so I'm piecing together what tubes go where .......

Eli, thanks. Good points, esp about iron, that's for sure. the way I have it sorted out now for me personally is tube rectification with oil/poly caps for hifi and guitar audio, SS with electrolytics .......

I realized an RF choke on the output of the voltage regulator would slow slew rate, so all that needs to be done to correct the design is use a small cap, under .1 uf as I think it was Eli pointed out .......

of the RF tubes sometimes used in SET's, the 845 and the 813 have thoriated tungsten DH'd filaments. The 2A3, 300B and 45 are DH'd filaments, BUT they are oxide coated tungsten - and, yes, operate at .......

i don't remember brandnames, etc, but i used to do work in radio engineering, and i certainly remember the oversized commercial turntables that were specially designed for oversized vinyl that was dis .......

I agree; it has been a source of amazement to me the retail prices of tube amps. I think this market is way overpriced (and I intend to do something about it). Claims that amps have to cost thousands .......
