From the beginning it thrashed a bit too loudly with a few redbook CDs, then all of a sudden it just died. The display would only show dashes, and you could hear the disc spinning slowly, but even the .......

I prefer the RCA 45 to both the Sovtek and RCA blk plate 2A3, and I can't seem to use anything else. Unfortunately I did not ask Don to invert my tube sockets...:( .......

The Ah! is not the best player for direct connnection due to it's digital vol. control. It also has a fairly hot output (2.5v) which will make matters worse. I tried it for a while when my preamp brok .......

I found that the speakers need about 300 hours to break in. The first month I had them they were a little shouty, and friends who came over to listen had little expectations. Now it's a different stor .......

Gibralter off of Weather Report/ Black Market. His is a small part in that song (he and Zawinul trade off through out) but his his performance and the tone of his sax are awesome--very dark and moody. .......

10% sounds reasonable, but that would leave you $400 to spend on a $4000 system that may require 2 pairs of ICs and a pair of speaker cables. I think a system in that range could probably benefit grea .......

I built some nice, solid speaker stands out of MDF. The base is 1 1/4" thick and the column has a 5"x6" cross section. They sit in a second story wood structure on a wood floor. Any specific recommend .......

It's not the gold that's important, although it does impart increased quality in certain areas. MFSL has some great titles, although for my taste, the boosted bass can become tiresome at times. Try so .......

Try the Nutcracker Suite/ Tchaikovsky (not the full ballet). Very easy listening with a great intro to many of the different instruments. .......

They say you can get away with less power to drive relatively inefficient speakers in a smaller room. Is there a loss of dynamics because the speakers reach max dB levels so quickly? I have a 25w amp .......
