I had the same experience with the 501 monoblocks (not engaging, dull), totally contrasting with the 275 and 2102 (both tube-based). But even these didn't really grip me. Better options out there IMO. .......

And much better. Though to be fair, what I heard was the stereo power amp and preamp, although it had the special MIT cabling. .......

The 802s are fantastic speakers (and I hate B&W). The best combo was with all-Spectral electronics. Gorgeous sound. Mac and Bryston aren't really on the same league. .......

I had that exact same impression when listening to the (I think it was) 501s. Not my cup of tea at all. .......

I wish I shared your enthusiasm for class D amps... I've heard the renowned Spectron III on several occasions, one of them for a couple of weeks at home and there always was something weird and not ri .......

Nah, I had Martin Logan until I moved to the Analysis... The CLX don't have anywhere near the bass the Analysis can produce, plus amplifier mating is a lot easier than with ML (e.g. with a SET amp). : .......

Analysis Audio speakers allow an even wider range of amplifiers. They are an easy load with a very benign impedance curve, in fact the bigger the model, the easier it gets. .......

The amps I tried the 20.1 with are beefy enough I would say. I don't think the set up was that convoluted, although I would tend to agree that mixing a sub (or a pair of subs) only adds to the challen .......

I've been at this for enough time to know that listening at a dealer can be problematic. In fact, anything can be problematic in one way or another, so that's why I am giving Maggies the benefit of th .......

#9 YMMV. I auditioned the 20.1 driven by all ARC electronics (Ref 210s, Ref 3 and CD7) and they didn't deliver. The highs were too pronounced and the dealer had to do the resistor tweak. The bass just .......

Yes, that is certainly a valid point. However, it is not always possible to lug around 50 lb, and that isn't even considering that few dealers allow their equipment to be borrowed for a few days. So, .......
