I think these are great, I actually prefer them to the Mofi sleeves as the Diskeepers have a thicker backing to them. As the other poster noted they do have good service should a problem arise. Do tak .......

I think the Fisher is a good call. It's a great piece w/ a nice amp & preamp, tuner and good phono section to boot. If you have some decent FM stations around you will probably find yourself listening .......

As noted re-seat tubes, exercise controls & swithches. Note: be gently with the slide switches-they can break! I think this could be your culprit though. Don't panic-it's probably something simple. :: .......

Hi folks! I've seen this modification mentioned and it makes a lot of sense. My VPI 16.5 doesn't heat up too much, but the spindls does get pretty warm on longer cleaning sessions, ie: 10+ records. Wo .......

I received a SAS V15III stylus within one week of ordering it from JICO (west coast). Very well packed and if I recall shipping was cheaper than some of the domestic sellers. It is a very HQ stylus. .......

I use earplugs when using the VPI 16.5. Seems kinda redundant to clean a record for better sonics while blasting your eardrums. YMMV, etc. Paul .......

Bob, I don't know the board you referenced, but had good luck replacing the Quad Can Capacitor with the SDS labs board. This was a very worthwhile upgrade-tightening the bass and leaving the amp MUCH .......

I use a flexible cutting board my sister gave to me. Put a damp towel underneath to keep from slipping around when scrubbing the record. Works great! Paul .......

I agree-the new EH 7868's are GREAT! CAREFUL getting them seated in the sockets as those pins are big! It's a very nice tube, and good alternative to chasing down NOS 7868's. The Fisher 400 is a sweet .......

I think you're on the right track with first replacing the output tubes. If the problem persists, you could try swapping V11 tube w/ V12 and V9 tube w/ V10 to see if the symptom follows the tube. As p .......

The EH 7868 tubes sound good! I put them in a Fisher 400 and the sound was good, top to bottom. As you noted the diameter of the pins is larger-CAREFUL snugging them down into place. As per the socket .......

I agree about your point of speaking in absolutes... I've had a couple conversations with Duane the Disk Doctor and he is pretty adamant about NOT needing to use a RCM. I've used his fluid and brushes .......

We don't know till we try. While I haven't used ultra low powered amps, I have always appreciated to extra headroom with my Klipsch Cornwalls. The MC 30's are conservatively rated and will easily push .......

That's a lot of Euros, but they are nice amps. If you have the chance to inspect them, they sound good, and are in excellent cosmetic condition...You would be avoiding the expense(and possible damage) .......

I'm using the 6L6WGC-STR's in a pair of Mcintosh MC 30's with good results. They compare favorably to GE 6L6Gc's, which are my faves in this amp. Some (most ?) prefer the RCA blackplates. Dunno much a .......

Try it with the RCM. I too, use the DD brushes and fluid and find the vacuuming between cleaning and rinsing works very well. I rinse twice as that has seemed to alleviate the occasional krispies. I k .......

Jim is right that the RCA 7199's are the way to go with the Dynaco. Jim is a stand up guy and you could do much worse as far as buying tubes go. Forum sponser to boot! Enjoy the Dynaco@@ .......

Can't help you with the VPI as I do not have, nor have I used one. I do, it seems use a method similar to yours where I scrub my records on a flat surface using DD brushes and fluid and vacuum off bet .......

I have both and feel the M97XE is 70-80% of the V15VxMr. That's a pretty good deal considering the difference in cost and Shure's discontinuing the V15VxMR & stylus exchange on this cart. Tough call. .......

I would second the RCA 7199's and better rectifier tube-Mullard or RCA. I have a Mullard GZ34 w/ rca 7199 and the JJ E34L and I think these tubes are great. The midrange is sweet-definitely not lackin .......

I second the idea that a used Rega is possible for sub $500. I would suggest taking a look at Audiogon(audiogon.com). If you are patient there are some nice rega's that come across from time to time. .......

I would second airtime's suggestion of checking the quad cap. I had mine go out on my ST 70 and it produced some of the same sypmtoms: vibration + humm (increased when the top was installed)& unstable .......

The Shure has a brush on it which I leave down. I use it for the protection it provides the stylus. I also spoke with someone at Shure who said this cartridge was "made" to work with the bursh down. p .......

Sounds as though the sound is coming from the point where the stylus contacts the record surface. Not coming through the speakers. It is heard whether the brush is up or down. paul .......

Yesterday i picked up a few records at an estate sale. One which looked interesting wa a Command Classics recording of Ravel's Bolero. Reading the LP it says it was recorded onto 35mm film. Very nice .......

I was recently looking at an audiogon ad where the person was selling some tubes he said were fake Svetlana's. The person idicated these were actually Svtek tubes made by the Reflektor plant in Russia .......

Joe, Indeed the left side 15.6 Ohm resistor had failed. Replaced both sides with 10 Ohm 1 watt(until I can order 10 ohm/3 watt) resistors and set the bias to 1.0v both sides. It's working! Of course i .......
