Looking for help from fellow Quad addicts! I have a pair of Quads 988. One of the speakers seems to trigger the protection circuit more often the other one, especially on bassy material, such as a sud .......

Concur with the above observations on 330i and partly on 512. I too found the Elac's ribbon treble is very revealing but sometimes on the verge of spitty and unpleasant. I would not try to uncondition .......

I prefer the sound of B&W N804 to AP Virgo any time. Never heard the Tempo's, I don't think they are much different to Virgo in terms of overall sonic signature. I have found Virgo too 'remote' for me .......

IMHO, break in is both technical and psychoacoustical phenomenon. One's ears experience break similar to the one's component. I've found that I have experienced a break-in phenomenon with some compone .......

I forgot to mention that I checked the 'close CD' option in EAC. Also, if loaded in Nero or Adapter CD creator the CD-R does not appear to be open. So, technically, it looks like the CD-R is 'closed'. .......

I also use EAC to rip and Nero to burn. How do you do that? EAC saves ripped image as a single WAV file with an added .cue file. Nero does not seem to recognise this image - it only supports burning .......

I use my Rotel on 3 aluminium cones instead of standard feet. The rack is a sturdy Lovan thing. The power cord I use is also not quite a stock-standard computer variety - it's a shielded Pirelly cord. .......

I'm very familiar with Meridian 506.20 (a friend of mine owns it) and Rotel 991 (I own it). 506.20 is a good player for the money. Rotel 991 is also good (for the money that is). Rotel is more dynamic .......

Can anyone recommend any particular brand/model of a computer CD-ROM (reader) which is capable of ripping CD-Audio with 100% bit-perfect accuracy? I have a Teac 32x SCSI, it supports CD-Audio ripping .......
