Hi Andre, I'll post a photo when I do something 'pretty'. For right now, all I did was pull one of the plastic endcaps off the end of my Hunt record brush and lay the five or six tiny strands of wire .......

After hooking up my Hunt record brush to a wall ground (using an 8 foot length of 28 AWG stranded copper wire), the result was unmistakeable: this little tweak not only removed all the static charge f .......

as I discovered in my "investigations" ;~) is HOW the carbon bristles/fibers are mounted. If they are simply imbedded in plastic, then there is no way for the static charge to get off the carbon brist .......

I don't know who you chose for Denon "authorized factory service" but my experience was 180 deg. opposite from yours. I used a company called PanurgyOEM in Rockaway, NJ to repair my broken AH-D7000's .......

I use the MoFi Plus (formerly RRL) as my regular cleaner also. It was pitched (for a while) as being TWICE the strength of the original (RRL) product, but they've apparently backed down off that parti .......

A 12" straight-line TA will have some tracking error, but probably no more than a 9" TA with offset ;-) The main reason for 12" tonearms (back in the day ;-) was for playing large transcription discs .......

My understanding is that the "A" version's filament has a center tap so it can use either a 6.3V or 12.6V supply, depending if the tube's (two) filaments are wired in series or parallel. .......

I'm probably the last one to the party on this, but I discovered that using a cotton ball dampened w/ naphtha (AKA: Ronsonal lighter fluid) will clean tubes very nicely while leaving the printing inta .......

Sorry Raider, I've no hands-on experience w/ the SP9, though in it's day, it was considered one of the best. However, to answer your question, I would advise your BIL to wait for a SP-14 to come along .......

If you want to stick w/ ARC, your best bet IMO (and yes I owned one ;--) would be the SP-14. It's all solid state except for the (one tube) phonostage. And what a phonostage! Many people buy this unit .......

For those who continue to believe this amp is "all it can be" as it comes from the factory, I offer this email I just got from a friend with a new Mk IV (driving Vantages) who had just tried a few NOS .......

First a little background. The CLS models in chronological order are: 1.) CLS -- Had a simple "ladder" panel, i.e. the horizontal metal dividing bars in the panel went all the way from left to right b .......
