With the belt on and everything spinning, I'll bet the freeplay isn't a problem. Everything finds its "sweet spot" and pretty much stays put. No in-out "hunting" of the flywheel shaft. Observe it and .......

Sometimes, the voice coil wires open where the leads are soldered on the cone. Resolder the leads at the junctions near the dust caps. You might find some of the drivers still have some life in them. .......

Isn't it amazing how LED technology has progressed? I too have used the blue LED's at around 1 ma. At 1 ma, the blue's are as bright as many red LED's running at 15 ma. I'm thinking of using blue LED' .......

For cutting traces, I use a single edge razor blade. The razor blade is easier to hold and control than an X-acto blade. I can limit the "overshoot" better with a razor blade. Also, you can press down .......

I've never used the reseting type protectors, so I can't say if 1.1 ohm is high. For reference, a 3/4 amp fast-blow fuse is about .2 ohms. So, yeah, it does seem high, but maybe that's normal. ::: TOP .......

Not familiar with that unit, but you might try using the trs adaptor type shown in the link below. Radio Shack should have them. One of the two Y'd rca inputs should get the signal to the bfd. ::: TOP .......
