I suggest for you to try the NAD C356 integrated. I use one with the Cary 308 and Quad 21Ls and it sounds fantastic. If you keep your tube preamp, you can also pop that in to the mix later on.. ::: TO .......

M3 is right. The third knob on the 3A is not a balance knob but a source/tape selector. (I had my 3A back in 2003 and thought it was a balance knob but the 3A picture on AI's website is clear as day. .......

Thanks for your input on the 52s. Also, you mentioned the use of headphones which does eliminate the need for other speakers. I can just turn the headphones up as the music calls for it and not alarm .......

I use/recommend the NAD PP-2 phono preamp. It works wonderfully well with a Rega P3-24 or Horizon TT. I use the MC of the MM/MC settings and it costs $159 new! .......

The NAD C326 has a wonderful sound, punchy, and with great bass. Adding the Quicksilver Linestage as a preamp opened up the soundstage and this combo allowed me to use my headphone jack through the NA .......

Is it a colossal change from the ASL to the QS or not that much? The ASL 1003 is an integrated and runs in class A 30 watts per channel and uses 12au7s for the passive preamp section. The Quicksilvers .......

In case you consider an integrated low power p-p amp, you can look at divergent technology's website on the ASL 1003DT which is 30 WPC Class A EL34 output tubes, and 12au7 input tubes and driver tubes .......

The Bellari VP 129 is great sounding piece with the ASL 1003DT integrated. The amp has enough watts to not care about the 30dB gain from the Bellari. The AT95SE has 3.5 voltage gain and it is perfect .......

If your speakers have jumpers that are not copper wires, you can make your own from a pair that you may have around (preferably with the same gauge size) to match the single wire you use on the lower .......

Just put in the JJ KT77s to replace the chinese EL34s on my ASL 1003DT and so far after maybe 10 hours, no big deal. My ASL amp has about 200 hours on it also. I hear more of a difference from changin .......

I have to agree with your comment about the great balance of the Vandersteens. I have tried the ML dynamo sub with the Vandersteen 1Cs but the sub just did better every time with bookshelfs like the Q .......

It took me a great leap of faith to leave my 1Cs and go to the 2CEs but it is well worth it. Furthermore, matched with the Modulus and Audio Research amp makes for a dream team system. Congratulations .......

Good point you make about the Alpha and 1Cs! I meant that synergy wise, the Alpha and a sub but failed to mention the NAD 325 BEE with it would make it appear close to a 1C. The NAD has a darker tonal .......

I use the Audio Technica PL-50 turntable and it kills and CD player under $1000 so for my CDs, I use the Toshiba $60 DVD/CD universal player. The CD sound is a tad bright but the NAD balances that out .......

It has been a while since I used a sub but the idea having a sub with its own amp running it allowing the NAD to concentrate on the mids and highs at the 80 hz point or so makes a lot of sense to me i .......

It all depends how loud you play. My sources being the Cary 308 and the Horizon turntable with the Dynavector 10x5 and the Project Tube Box II with NOS tubes are pretty revealing so I don't need to go .......

After 5 great years with the Vandersteen 1Cs, I have found another great speaker that I can live also for a long time. It is the Quad 22Ls! The Quad 22Ls brings in a lot more midrange along with tight .......

To date my most favorite combo that brings me into 70% 70s rock and 30% jazz/classical music with ease and simplicity is the Jolida 1501A Hybrid with the Electro Harmonics 12ax7s and the Jolida JD100 .......

Actually owned the 308 and sold it when I heard new stuff on my CDs from the Jolida that was not that apparent to me with the 308. The Jolida is more punchy sounding in my all tube system while the 30 .......

I finally demoed the Rega apollo cdp at home and the Jolida JD100 tube cdp just after one evening. In comparison, the apollo sounded good on its own (even a bit soft or even vinyl sounding for a digit .......

I did not consider DIY but if I can get the same performance out of it and save some money, that would be great! I don't know of a DIY that is tested and true for equal performance with the REL. Any s .......

Just got my stock Jolida JD100 back after loaning it out for a time. I still find it so engaging as always. Yes it does have help from a Shunyata Diamondback power cord on it and a Tara Lab Prism 2200 .......

I agree with the McCormack amp matched with the Vandersteens also. I might add that the Quicksilver linestage preamp also is a great match either with McCormack or with its own monoblocks powering the .......

If you really want to laugh, I should say that I sold the Cronus (too much amp for my small room) and got a JD302B which is just fine for me and kept my 1501A as a backup with 12axlps Sovteks also! It .......

I suggest that if you are considering between a preamp or a power amp first, you should also consider trying out the hybrid Jolida 1501A. I also had the NAD 320BEE and the 1Cs too and really liked the .......

Just bi-wired my Quad 12Ls with DH labs Q-10 on the top driver and Kimber 8TC on the lower driver and made a wonderful discovery! Each of the cables separately does not compare to what I am hearing wi .......

I used a Martin Logan Dynamo sub with the 102B and I ran the speaker wire out of the amp and into the sub and then out to the speakers. Try it first with the sub off and see how you like the sound. Th .......

I actually own the Decware 944s and I like their sound better than merlin bookshelves! And with 94 db, 3 to 7 watts is all that is needed to get them going. They have ribbon tweeters and an 8 inch woo .......

I used to own it and I sometimes wish I still had it. Its combination of features: sub out, headphone jack, phonostage, remote control are all really nice! For a small system, for a bedroom or office .......

Anyone heard these two kinds of speakers with sli-80 Cary tube amp? Which did you like better and why? I have the 1-c's with the Cary and really love the sound but can this be improved upon in the mid .......
