Either you're loading the cartridge too much and/or your VTA is set way low. Try raising the arm and more ohms on the loading. Don't think it's your ears. .......

Yes, I have the arm slightly "down". I've found that if it's too high, it tends toward the bright side, and too low, too dark and lifeless. The lower loading may just be compensating for the VTA. Also .......

Is it possible that you have the VTA set too low? I have owned a Ruby 2 and generally loaded it at 825, although it would sometimes sound better at 475. If VTA is too low, mine does get "thick" and de .......

Yeah, I know my way around a soldering iron (usually with silver solder), and I have already put them on cones and used acoustical treatments in my room. I was told from the beginning (by the dealer) .......
