Bill--I was wondering what power tube are you using in the 6080 position? I'm getting a set of HD800s to use with my BHC, and I was thinking that 5998/7236 might be preferable because of the lower out .......

If you're not in a hurry, I'd wait. You'll probably be able to get a lot more feedback in a few months from people who either (a) have gone through this waaay long burn in period, or (b) getting mods .......

Thanks for the response. It is definitely not the source, as it occurs when the source is not connected. (Probably moot, but FWIW I use it with a slimserver and a usb-powered dac.) Do new tubes someti .......

Hi, I have limited experience with tubes. I just bought a used Miniwatt N3 (cheap Chinese integrated amp w/ one 12ax7 and two EL84s). There is an audible hum on my Omega 93db fostex single drivers. * .......

I have somewhere between 60-100 hours on mine. It is significantly better than when I first got it, but it's still too harsh to be enjoyable. It's like I can hear how good it could be, but it's stuck .......

ALO Audio (US distributor) would be willing to take a stab at repairing. I have no idea what they charge, but I do know they stock replacement NOS tubes especially for the N3 around your price range a .......

Believe it or don't, the cheap nickel Radio Shack RCA connectors actually sound really good! Problem is they fall apart easily, can be difficult to solder the center pin, and they look like crap. 3 bu .......

I've had both the HII and the HIII, and, while I prefer the HIII, I've heard of folks preferring the HII. Personally, the only thing I sort of liked better about the HII was that they were highly dire .......

Second the thought on passives giving liquidity and removing the edginess that a lot of solid-state actives pre's have. Not familiar with the one Kurt mentions (and I guess only two other folks are ;) .......

You all think there are any issues using a 20 amp-rated Zerosurge surge protector (same as a brick wall, except for higher amp rating) on a 15 amp circuit? Only 15 amp devices would be plugged into it .......

I'm not sure that this necessarily means that the Euro ones are different. At US Ikeas you can get both kinds, but you have to dig a bit for the non-resonant ones. Possibly the same in Europe? ::: TOP .......

one or two of the natural wood looking lack tables are solid mdf, and therefore relatively non-resonant. the solid color, very slightly cheaper, versions are hollow and resonant. .......

since it's bottom-ported, raising the tivoli slightly (1/2"-1") will reduce some of the boom. Duster's recommendation to put it on small feet should do the trick. .......

The 600s are an upgraded version of the 580s, so I think that it is safe to assume that if you feel the 580s needed an amp, you will feel the same with the 600s. .......
