I have some here and like it at least as well as the Western Electric and Duelund tinned copper wire I also have here. The machine twist is nice and it comes in both 16awg and 12awg - good stuff and g .......

I have made balanced ICs from that twisted pair wire. The 16awg is a bit heavy for ICs IMO but does work well if you enjoy a full/rich midrange. They also make the same stuff in 12 gauge, which should .......

I have made both and agree with everything you said. However, I really believe the sound of the Duelund tinned copper wire and the Western Electric tinned copper wire is better suited for speaker cabl .......

Thanks for the alert. I was going to recommend these Furez SP8 Bare Copper Spade Speaker Connectors, which I have had good luck with but both AV Outlet and Douglas Connection appear to be out of them. .......

Have not taken measurements yet but they sound good. The heatshrink noticeably damped the rebound so there are less oscillations after they are manually excited by pushing on them. The heatshrink also .......

The VC in my preamp is not a "pot" but rather a Shallco attenuator using Audio Note Tantalum (copper) resistors. Steve used the very same attenuator in his SMc VRE-1 preamp up thorough the B version b .......

Lokie, I have had the same result using vintage tinned copper Western Electric wire. With my high powered amps, the 10 gauge wire works best for me. Unlike others, I prefer the WE wire over the newer .......

Sounds like a unity-gain preamp with a buffer and volume attenuator. McCormack's TLC-1 and SMc's VRE preamps are similar, although you can get +6dB gain through the transformers with the VRE preamps, .......

I did that with one of my amplifiers. Removing that mechanical connection makes sense, especially if you are sure of the power cable you use. There are more than a few good bulk cable choices. ::: TOP .......

I owned both the Cary 500MB monos and newer SA500.1 monos. Bass was fatter with the 500MBs, and tighter/more dynamic with the 500.1s, which type of bass you like better would be personal preference. O .......

I use 6 soft fat dots under my mac mini, and 4 SuperSonic Stabilizers on top, all from Herbies, and it sounds great. The mini sits on the top shelf of a Sound Anchor rack. .......

The Glyph GPT50 does have USB 2.0 also so I could boot from that if there were ever a need. I would use this drive solely for backups. The Glyph drives seem to be highly recommended for their reliabil .......

Thanks Abe, and welcome back. Things have been progressing nicely with some good sounds coming from the mini and Hex combo. I have only loaded about 10 familar CDs so I could play around and get used .......

That would be consistent with what I heard since the short, better, USB cable into the ifi Power with the dual cable out seemed to sound best. .......

Thanks for the recommendations. Since I went down the Mac route, I am currently using XLD to rip directly to AIFF. My collection is not huge (under 1,000 CDs) and by the time I fill up my 1TB internal .......

The system is capable of producing differences. I am using the Hex's internal modified M2 Highface USB input. Are you suggesting converting to spdif and using that input on the Hex may result in impr .......

I finally have music coming through a source that does not include a spinning disc. By choosing to go the Mac route (vs. Windows through an expensive CAPS server) I saved enough to upgrade to a better .......

I second what Duster says below. The GRS is made to be soldered and crimping would result in an unreliable connection. When soldered, IMO, they are a pretty good, but not great, spade and, in addit .......

Yeah, I understand the player and associated features can make a big difference in SQ. I honestly don't know much about the choices yet but it seems i-tunes can be used to create lossless or somewhat .......

It took years to find an excellent disc player but the path was somewhat linear with regards to what attributes make disc players sound good. With this music server business, I think my problem has be .......
