I have a VPI Aries 3 and had terrible feedback issues at higher volume. VPi does not isolate their turntables well - their feet are not well designed. I had to replace my mini HRS feet with Stillpoint .......

I use the same tools as you plus an azimuth measuring tool (mechanical and electrical). I mounted a Grado Ref 2 on a spare VPI arm and I must admit seeing the stylus on the SMARTractor was very diffic .......

Typically P2S discrepancy will only affect the null pts; increasing P2S by lengthening overhang will widen the null pts. As you mention, exotic stylus shapes do dictate a more discrete VTA. ::: TOPIC: .......

No doubt it was not set up correctly. The replicant stylus is one of the toughest to get SRA correct. The Cad Black is a truly awesome cartridge that is easy to set up. .......

I have the same issue and also read the other thread. My equipment is McIntosh and VPI. I tried switching cables and this did not solve my problem. Even though music is not playing it is an isolation .......

For that budget I would focus on a MM cartridge, look at Soundsmith since they are affordable to rebuild later on. For stage, I agree with Graham Slee brand, very good for the money. .......

The VPI wither the Ortofon was almost 2X the price of the Rega/Lyra. I got a nice trade-in amount towards the VPI. The backgrounds are blacker, less groove noise and the ability to fine tune the VTA m .......

I believe Rega cartridges are 14mm in ht. and that is what their VTA is set for, so if a brand X cartridge is 10mm in ht. then a 4mm spacer would be needed. .......

The is a Rotel RLC-900 used (conditioner)plus a shunyata power strip. I feel that possibly one of the ICs may have a shorted ground. Hopefully this can be tracked down by connecting one unit at a time .......

OK, after the beating I took I tried it myself. The tubed phono stage in the pre is not as good as the GSP Era Gold V. The tubed section was hollow and not much depth. It was better than my Rotel stag .......

I believe the standard Rega cartridge is 14mm in ht. With my Dynavector 20XH my dealer added two 2 mm spacers. A 1mm difference (Rega to Denon)will cause arm to ride a bit tail down which is OK. I don .......

I would suggest forgoing the line out from the sub back to your amp IF you have two sets of Pre-amp outs. Use the subs freq. cutoff to 60 Hz and let the satellites rcv full range. .......

Stereophile magazine prefered the P5 over the P7 for bang-for-the-buck when used with the TT PSU. The P7 has a better subplatter and plater vs the P5 but for 2X the price I prefered the P5, which I do .......

I was pleasantly surprised by the newer Rega Exact2 cartridge. Many people on the board here do not like Regas but their new design is worth a listen to. The Exact retails for $550. .......

Try adding the TT PSU to your P% - more sonic bliss will be discovered. I have the same setup as you, and then I added the TT PSU - best $300 upgrade I could have done. It tightened everything up ::: .......

I have that version from a download and have not been able to find it 'legally' - thanks for letting me know where it is. I am a huge VM fan BUT his latest efforts are far from my favorite. I saw him .......

With my Rega P5 (RB700 tone arm) my AS (1g) is about half of the VTF (1.7g). .......

I have heard that on Regas (I own a P5) the the AS should be half of the VTF. Don't know the reasoning. I do have MF's turntable setup DVD but have yet to watch. On my P5 my VTF is 1.7g & AS = 1g. No .......
