Have you tried a BPiT? A balanced power isolation transformer.. No snake oil or inefficient regeneration. Balanced power cancels out noise and also isolates the grounds. It's physics, common mode reje .......

I ran the XA25 both ways.. Direct from the DAC with volume controlled by JRiver 64bit software to the XA25. Very transparent and sounded great. My streaming doesn't work with JRiver, so I had to use a .......

I have the freya+ and those same tubes.. I used to use the passive section mostly.. Now I shelved the Freya and went with something else.. the Freya is a fine preamp for the money.. but it can't keep .......

I've always had issues with speaker grills.. I like them off when listening, but prefer them on for protection. My current speakers, Daedalus Athena... have magnets built into the wood front fascia th .......

Generally speaking... I find that a sealed sub, non ported works best with music.. Less boomy and more accurate.. I prefer a ported sub for HT, but for music a non ported sub worked best for me.. As o .......

That hissing sound is usually caused by a tube going bad... atoms of air that collide with the electrons in a leaky tube will cause that sound... .......

Yeah.. the spec techies only think good sound comes from low distortion specs and ultrasonics.. Audioscience did a review on an amplifier that they deemed Horrible.. they listed the specs and the test .......

I agree,, It all starts with the recording... The Freya doesn't color the sound in any mode. So it will allow whatever to come through.. Im using some Sylvania chrome tops that smooth out the top end .......

Yeah... but no.. After owning Tripath, ICE and Hypex based amps, the hypex being my most recent; the Bel canto Ref600 monos.. While I found the HypeX to be the cleanest and best sounding amps of all I .......

I too experienced the "peculiar lack of center fill" with the Hypex based bel canto amps.. A recessed midrange and strident high end. Low noise floor, cool running.. but lacking in natural flesh tones .......

Will do!! I'm driving an efficient pair of speakers at 95.5db sensitivity into 8 ohms with an easy load only varying 1 db across the range. When I bought the Aegir monos, I had a pair of focal 1028's .......

I just purchased pair of Aegir monos to drive some Focal Electras rated at 8 ohms nominal 90.5 dB. These amps do have that SET sound even in mono mode. They are clean sounding , not fat tubey, but has .......

Digital photography as come of age and IMO has equaled film. But as in audio, it takes the right equipment to make it right. A cheap $200 kodak digital camera is the same as a Best buy JVC CD player. .......

Thanks for the comments. I only listen to the headphone thru the MF X-can which is directly connected to the Philips SACD player. The philips does not have a headphone jack. My X-can has an upgraded P .......

I've used the LPS before with good results. They seem to be quieter than most. It might be quiet at the expense of losing something... I had no problems using them on the input tubes on my amps. mike .......

Richardson Electronics sells the Cetron 845 for about $414 each. Used to be $330 not too long ago. They bought up alot of the RCA and United tube making equipment and still make some fine sounidng tub .......

I agree.. I have been using the Equitech 20 amp unit with the "Q" option transformer. Made a huge difference in the noise floor even with good power and an already quiet system. Never runs out of stea .......
