I tested the E85 and it works. It has the same T1 glass base but a slightly larger diameter globe. Also has a slightly different spec, but fits and seems to work fine so far. Several suppliers still .......

I use a Pioneer CD recorder for making transfers from cassettes and reel tapes. It's like copying with a tape recorder, very simple, no interface. I can then make copies from the CD or just play them .......

I suspect the sonic quality is more a function of the duplicating speed than the final play speed. Some 1-7/8 ips cassettes sound very good, and my own 3-3/4 ips tapes recorded on the Revox A77-IV are .......

The fact that there was noise in the first place suggests that the caps are reaching the end of their lives. If you love the machine, I'd suggesting replacing the caps. That way you'll extend the life .......

Like everything else in audio, it depends on what you're listening to these tapes on. When I feed my Ampex A-series into my stereo, the best tapes sounds gorgeous. They sound less good on solid state .......

One issue with all the Luxman amps I've owned is intermittent and scratchy controls. Use of Deoxit on the controls might help. It's possible that one of your tone controls is cutting out and needs rep .......

a good seller will always audition a record and describe its sonics. I try to accurately describe surface noise level as light, moderate or heavy, sometimes adding "occasional pops and tics" or simila .......

I've found warping on several records that were sold without shrink wrapping. For example, I bought a $27 reissue of Velvet Underground + Nico that was packaged in a simple plastic sleeve - no stress .......
