The only tubes that are reliable in these amplifers are the Russian Sovteks and Svetlanas. All other, especially domestic vrsions of 6AS7Gs and 6080s, will suffer from frequent "arc-over" failure. Tak .......

You're quite right. The new class AB option needs a new, higher voltage plate transformer and the now regulated driver stage. Adjusting the bias voltage down is not the only function of the new switch .......

The MP-3's build quality and reliability are excellent. It's design is conservative, so it's very easy on tubes. The sound is right up there with the best and is better than most all other tubed pream .......

Have you thought about removing pairs of output tubes on your MA-1? That's what I do here in Ventura County. Remove all but six 6AS7Gs and you'll have the power you want and far less heat. For more in .......

The Novacron chassis does exchange heat very well. I've seen no output tube degradation in over 18 months of heavy use. I really do like the art-deco styling! .......

The stock Novacron puts out the same amount of power into 8 ohms as the M-60. You have 8 ohm nominal speakers. Depending on your listening habits, 60 watts may or may not be enough. .......
