If you can find one, they are magical. I had one for many years and had to spend a lot more to get a noticeable improvement. AFAIK Scott Frankland is still doing repairs on them and would be the go to .......

I drive my ESL-63's with a pair of Atma-Sphere MA-1's. Its the best match I have found. The transparency and speed of the amps complements the openness and and resolution of the speakers. FWIW ::: TOP .......

I can attest that Atma-Sphere amps have a synergy with Quads. Mine have never sounded better. MA-1, MP-1, & ESL63 .......

I would contact Ralph at Atma-Sphere. The 3.3 version of the MP-1 has more gain in the phono stage than the 3.1 version with a lower noise floor. I suspect the same is true for the MP-3, It's worth a .......

The Atma-sphere MA-1's are the best match I have ever heard with the Quad's. The combination sounds more like music than any combination I can recall. The Atma's bring out the low frequencies in the Q .......

If it's the same as my MA-1's there are separate power and operate lamps. the Power lamp seems to flicker during operation. I have never noticed any sonic issues from this. There are incandescent bulb .......

With that impedance curve, I'd add the Atma-sphere MA-1 to the list. They have been maintenance free for me since I bought a used pair five years ago. YMMV .......

There is adhesive attached to the magnet. Recommended placement is towards the outer edge of the platter. I highly recommend it for VPI. .......

If you have the quads in a smaller room they might be OK. I drove mine with some low power amps and found it unsatisfying. But they weren't Atma's either. .......

If you are going to run an Atma-sphere amp with the ESL 63's, I would suggest the M-60 as a minimum. I use the MA-1's and they match the ESL 63's better than anything I have ever heard. .......

What tonearm are you using? I would also suggest checking the cartridge connections as i have seen them cause attenuation of the signal at the connector. .......

I can personally recommend Kent's products. He has done repair work on my pair of ESL 63's and provided update boards for the R/C and EHT, both of which made significant improvements without affecting .......

OTL is the way to go, IMO. I have Atma-sphere MA-1 amps driving my ESL 63's and have never had them sound better especially on the bottom end. If you need more than 140 wpc the MA-2's are 220 watts. T .......

I had my MA-1's updated from Mk 3 to Mk 3.1. The difference was lack of noise when no signal is present. There was also the removal of the Class A/AB switch. If you have the funds to do it, it is wort .......

Is it just Delta blues or does it work on KC and Chicago Blues as well? I really like Joe Turner, and now that I think of it, he does sound good on these amps. ;-) Mike .......

I have the 5 input tube version of the MA-1 Atma-sphere amps. I am curious as to what folks here have found that they like in these amps and in what locations. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. .......

Thanks Marc, They are, in fact, Svetlana tubes. It seems as if this is nothing to worry about. I think it is time to give the little guys a vigorous workout.;-) Thanks, Mike .......

I would suggest a pair of M60 or an S30 Atma-sphere. I found a huge change from P-P amps on my ESL63's. More power, yes. More synergy with the Quads, huge. FWIW. .......

I have a pair of MA-1 Atma-sphere amps and have noticed a blue glow in a few of the output tubes when operating. It is not there when in the stand by mode. It glow seems to pulse at times in sync with .......

Was this a question? AFAIK that is a 75W PP amp using Citation transformers. Output tubes should be labeled as 6550. Scott Frankland was also involved in that operation and has been very helpful with .......

I have the MA-1 amps driving Quad ESL 63's in a 13' X 22' room and they are just about perfect. The Quads are about 87db 1W@1M. I did not audition the M60's as Ralph suggested the MA-1's and I could n .......

I have had a lot of luck on Audiogon. I just completed the purchase of a pair of Atma-Sphere MA-1 Silver Edition Amps that went perfectly. I would spend some time looking at feedback before buying. FW .......
