just found a QL-Y5F with servo-controlled arm, and the cantilever on the original cartridge is missing. i know that on my other JVC tables with J-shaped arm, the stylus should be 46mm from the back of .......

picked up another vintage table the other day, this one has an Ortofon MC-20 mk2 as well as the in-line transformer STM-72. i cleaned the stylus and listened. sounded ok, but didn't get my heart racin .......

is the use of AlNiCo magnets in the AN carts. so apparently the only similarities are in the use of the cartridge housing and stylus assembly (and maybe cantilever material for the IQ1 and IQ2). i sus .......

in a local thrift i found what appears to be a single vintage radio shack full-range driver labeled 401292 also with 328633N on the heavy, cast frame. it is 3" in diameter not counting the treated acc .......

but in my experience finding truly good sounding AT7s is more of a challenge than, say, finding good sounding 12AX7s. thanks for the input. i do have an E180CC on order, and will let my own ears decid .......

is centered on the 12 rather than a separate driver. there is a single bolt holding it on the back of the magnet assembly (via a shaft) that i hope allows (careful) rotation when loosened. i don't fin .......
