It could easily fit into a 6" x 6" box and is coming from the east coast standard ground delivery. On top of that $8 tax was added. In Oregon there is no sales tax. I think it is still outrageously hi .......

You might look at Reference 3A, Dulcet or De Capo. Good sensitivity, bass sounds lower and fuller than a speaker this size should. No crossover design. a bargain at used prices. .......

When I bought mine in the mid 70's retail was $900 for the Spec 2 and $500 for the Spec 1. My son has them both now. No way in hell I would pay that. Most people thought I was crazy for spending that .......

My room is very similar in shape and size and I had trouble with the same issue you are dealing with. I have dampeners on the wall to tame some brightness which work well. The bass was kind of blurre .......

+1 Sylvania's were what I went to when re-tubing my SLI-80. Replaced horrible EH that it came with. Also go with Gold Lion KT88's for power. I use 7308's of various brands for the 6922 slots. ::: TOP .......

I have never used Valve Art KT88's. I have tried TS 6550 and KT120, GL KT88, EH kt88, JJ KT77 and KT88 . My favorite are the GL tubes, second is TS KT120's. Least favorite were the 6550 and KT77. From .......

I switched to XLR from my blue ray player to my DSpeaker preamp.The only difference I noticed was a bump in output. I had to trim the output from the player to the pre or it would max out the input. : .......

I was wondering about that also. It seems that if it was uncomfortably loud they wouldn't hang around. I rarely listen to anything louder than about 85 db peak , that's about my limit. .......

Congratulations on your choice of amplifiers. I have been using mine for 8-9 years now and I concur with the tube choices listed previously. My favorite output tubes are the GL's followed by the KT120 .......

Up until that point I had been using cheapo cables. As it is I am in for about $80 for my 8ft shotgun bi-wire cables. Still not expensive by any means. .......

The change after break-in is not night and day from my experience but is significant. My Von Schweikerts took about 500 hrs and made quite a difference. I was skeptical before that. .......

Yes Jim, The Cary has a bias pot for each set of two tubes. I try to keep the bias set at 75-85 ma on KT88, KT120, and 6550 tubes. Haven't experimented with any higher or lower settings. .......

Not long ago I contacted Cary about bias for KT77 tubes and their recommendation was 50-60 ma. I believe my manual says bias for stock tubes, KT88 or 6550's, is 75-100 ma. .......

I am currently using TS KT120's and have tried GL, EH, and TS 6550's, I liked the GL KT88's but life span was an issue. I really like the KT120's full bodied and lack nothing. A lot more low end than .......

I had that problem with my SLI-80 and it turned out to be a power tube that would arc after warming up a couple of minutes and blow the main fuse for that side. I had to be there right when it happene .......

I had the same problem. In my room there is a limited number of ways to set up a good system. I always had a standing wave problem. I could have gone with the bass traps and tons of acoustic treatment .......

The bias is set for the pair of tubes and I just checked them, it was almost exactly half of what it should be, on the other pair of tubes the bias is correct. Bad tube I guess! Bummer, the tubes prob .......
