A while back I was adding a bit of mass to the tonearm ala 'yellow tack'. Somewhere I read about the resonance of metal tubes and I wrapped a small bit of stuff around a point about 1/3 of the way dow .......

They sure are different! The whole presentation seems quite unique and quite right. They replaced Tele ECC82 that til now were the rulers of my Foreplay. (never tried the $802s) They are still breakin .......

upon extreme inspection I found what may actually be an etched code. It's very very faint and quite small and hard to read. It could be a equal to with a slash, hard to tell. That is followed by the n .......

No, no etching. The anode has one round hole on each side. And on one plate, (of each tube) on the right side where it is 'clamped' together, there is a snall piece of silver metal with 3 small circle .......

My Denon has a volume control. I am glad because between the cdp and the 4play I can get decent low levels. I feel as you, that the "sound of the 4play" is better than the "sound of the cdp" if you kn .......

Good advice below. Just thought I'd add that EH has a rep for very poor quality control. I purchased 4 eh tubes (el-34) from a reputable dealer. One went out with great hum in 2 months. Got a replacem .......

No guns, too big and unweildy. Weller or Hakko solder stations seem to be the most used by inmates. I have a Weller wes51 and love it. Variable and stable temp control, 50w iron, lots of tips for all .......

I recently replaced the 20 yr old bass wire with a decent ofc of about 20g. The change was great. Much more clarity and definition.(I also have Belles) .......

only 40 hrs on the caps, that's not much. I've got almost 200 playing hrs. on the Hovlands I put in 6 wks ago. I think they're finally settling down. I'd almost guarentee you'll hear a big difference .......

yeah, that clarity could be revealing issues that were heretofore un-noticed elsewhere in the system.(cables, tubes, etc)...Have you let them break in a good while? I like to wait at least 100 hrs bef .......

I've used the cheapest rat shak rca's to great effect (ala 'Gizmo'). With R.S. 30g magnet. Cheapest good ic around! Even better with Vampyre 26g ccc. For A couple bucks a set they will equal or better .......

I'd suggest Mullard (sorry) cv4004 box plates in one of those ax7 positions. They're by far the best in my Quicksilver pre. Spendy, but the best imho. Very real sounding, not un-naturally smooth. VERY .......

That helped me was to lift the tranny off the chassis plate with 2 vinyl/rubber grommets. I haven't yet grounded the tranny housing to the chassis but will soon, it's a good idea...safety first...LB : .......

Well as the first "upgrade", the switch made a great difference. One of the solder tabs on the stock was looser than i liked, thus the change. Gone is the thin bright attitude, replaced with rich warm .......

I actually know nothing of the true specs of these amps. A Horn Mono manual came along with them, so I am assuming they are somewhat similar, although these have 2 300uf/500v caps to the productions 1 .......

I have heard improvement with a 33% reduction in length, and thats with very good ears. 25% is reaching the probably won't notice a dif. area. IMHO. Overall length reduction is irrevelent, the percent .......

I had mine for about 3 weeks, sent it back, unfixable, no replacements, I should get my $ back shortly. It had various and sundry problems and for a 2000.00$ msrp player the build quality is a joke.I' .......

I haven't heard those models but i love the sound of my dsp-a1. The Denon sound i find similar to the yamaha, that is, smooth, easy, and articulate. The sonys seem a bit brighter to me, more "solid st .......
