I have seen a few versions but haven't compared them. If there's a chance that one version may sound better than the others, it may be the one manufactured in the UK by EMI Records with the Parlophone .......

Bought my 17 in Nov '86, no more than two years after its first introduction. The motor is stout and you can do periodic cleaning of the suction motor to keep it working for a very long time, like in .......

I had one between 1984 and 1986 and remember I liked the Denon 103D more than the Ortofon MC2000 on it. I had the Syrinx PU 3 in 1986 and my listening notes then said it bettered the Grace 714 on both .......

john, where i live, the rohmann is less than 3 times the cost of the denon. the rohmann is just a whole lot more tidy sounding in the rough and loud passages, the low frequencies do not hang out like .......

I ran the EH6CA7 in my airtight amps and they sounded the most satisfying in triode mode over all the usual EL34 suspects. But, alas, they don't last. All 18 of them died in under 800 hrs of use. Mayb .......

If the ATM2 has as much gain as the ATM3 which I have owned and used for more than a dozen years (and I suspect it does) you're likely not to meet with much success mating it with a high gain line sta .......

You'll need to remove the vacuum motor, open it up, clean the brushes within of all that accumulated carbon. You will then have a vacuum nearly as good as new, provided the brushes haven't been worn t .......

I have had someone tell me that he preferred the sound of his 1000hr+ 103R to a new from the box sample which he had as back-up. I found that hard to believe, though I wasn't there for the comparison. .......

Do pay attention to the driver tube. I've had the ATM 3s for 13 years and anything less than the original Siemens 12AU7 just will not do - a nice but limpid sound vs a more dynamic and rthymic present .......

Really depends on your speakers' efficiency and the input/ouput sensitivies of your electronics. I run a 0.2mv cartridge through a step-up with 10db gain and a phono amp with 38db gain and without a l .......

Both these cartridges could be 20 years or more old. The MC 20 is still in Ortofon's line as MC 20 Super Mk II but looks totally different from the original in blue resin. The Yamaha is forgettable. : .......
