Not at all; they're drop-in replacements. Perhaps you're thinking of the 6h30 "supertubes", which are used in the LS16 Mkii and LS25 Mkii and are not compatible in the SP9... Scott .......

I'd strongly recommend the 6h23n-eb tubes available from the Cable Company (www.fatwyre.com). I've used them in both an SP9 Mkiii and now in an LS25 Mki, and they make the preamps sound like entirely .......

No scientific evidence here, but my own experience with Van den Hul carbon-based cables (the First, and the Second, both RCA and XLR) is that they don't change a lot over time; certainly whatever burn .......

Vandersteens are remarkably responsive to cable changes, and a wide range of cables can be matched to them, depending on your tastes. Your best bet is to borrow several biwire sets from the Cable Comp .......

I use the interconnect dampers, but can't claim to hear much difference over not using them. I use Herbie's turntable mat and tube dampers as well, and those make such an obvious positive difference I .......

I'd hold out for a used Audio Research LS16 or LS16 Mk II, towards the top end of your range. If you like a "tubier" sound, the SP16's nice, too... might be a little dark sounding with the Rega, thoug .......

The jump from SP9 Mk II to Mk III is well worth the money, in my opinion. But it's cheaper to do what I did-- buy a used Mk III on Audiogon and sell your Mk II there. I got the "upgrade" for about $15 .......

I have an SP9 MkIII, and previously had a MK II, and I've had the opportunity to try both an SP16 and an LS16 MKII in my system. The SP16 is far "tubier" sounding than either SP9, richer in the midran .......

I for one prefer the original digital version of the late Gould Goldberg. What sounds "better" in an absolute sense (more like a real piano in real space) does not, to me, sound like what Gould's pian .......

The LS16 sounds significantly different than the SP16. The Sp16 is more traditionally "tubey," to my ears somewhat rolled off in bass and treble, sweetened a bit too much. The LS16 MK II is worlds dif .......

The 100.2 just does that. Slightly annoying, but no cause for concern. I leave mine on all the time, so I don't notice (except when I compulsively switch power cords in and out, and have to power down .......

I've tried a number of speaker cables with my Vandersteen 2CE Signatures. The only brand with spades too big to easily get a good fit was the larger Kimbers. Synergistic, Transparent, Goertz, Zu, Audi .......

I can't imagine it'll be a problem. I've had Thiel CS 2s since I was a student in 1986: first ran them with a 60 watt Kenwood receiver (!) until I improved my electronics, and have run them with Audio .......
