Maggie ribbon tweeters are only fastened on the sides by tiny dots of glue or epoxy that alternate side to side. They are not, as you say, held tautly on all 4 sides. .......

Just use the stuff that Magnepan recommends (3M 30NF). It works perfectly for these types of repairs. Why guess when this is proven to work? I fixed a couple of wires and re-glued four of my tuning bu .......

Keep in mind that 3.6Rs are easily bi-ampable and may surpass the performance of non-biamped 3.7s which are not easy to bi-amp. .......

Magnepan's instructions kind of suck and need to be revised. They say to use Super 77 for any repair, but it doesn't make sense and is not even possible for small repairs. Use 30nf for repairing spots .......

If I ever build hardwood frames for these, the aluminum angles are definitely going to be used. I think they will stiffen hardwood frames and maybe even prevent them from warping as wood tends to move .......

It's not technically a metal frame in my opinion. The mylar is stretched over a ~1/4" thick mdf frame and thin steel strips are glued to all 8 sides of the mdf. At least that's how my 3.6s are constru .......

Like I said, YOU spray it down with soapy water. YOU will find it. Forget the shop and their "bath." You won't see a slow leak by simply submerging the tire in water. The soap makes damn near microsco .......

Spray the entire tire down with soapy water and look for bubbles. It's the only way and you WILL find the leak no matter how minor it is. .......

I'm guessing you only have cloth on the fronts? If the voicecoil wires are on the rear of the speaker, you should not need to remove any cloth. .......

For what it's worth, I just spoke to Magnepan and they strongly recommended not using DAP. If your panels don't have DAP on them already, the cleanup is done with acetone. I'm not sure if acetone will .......

My 3.6Rs have a slight buzz on some bassy tracks, and I discovered that if I walk behind the speaker and press on the horizontal steel pieces under the socks it goes away (I'm pressing the steel piece .......

I see that now. 2549 is 6mm in diameter and 3159 is 3.2mm in diameter. You will have no problem at all. The 3159 is so skinny that you will probably have to build the cable up with heat shrink under t .......

I just tried again and the grommets do fit over the 2549 cable. You just have to stretch the hole opened with small needle nose pliers while inserting the cable. .......

You can also try sandpaper (try starting with 200 grit) or Scotchbtite. Really, any kind of abrasive will work. You'll just have to experiment to see what grit works best. .......

Hypnotoad, Why not take the pulley to a local machine shop and have them turn it down slightly? Alternatively, you can mount it on a Dremel tool or another motor and hit it with a thin strip of sandpa .......

301s came with both oil and grease bearings. There are 2 PDFs on Vinyl Engine. One is for a grease bearing 301 and the housing does not look "cut off". The other is for an oil bearing and the housing .......

Where do you see the cut off circle? Is it the part of the bearing that mounts to the chassis under the platter? If so, that very well may be the original oil bearing. Grease bearings looked like a fu .......

You are correct. The tonearm wires are wired directly to the SUTs (Lundahl 1678s). I wimped out on soldering the tonearm wires to the cartridge, so I used conventional connectors there :) .......

I just bought (brand new & sealed) Sonny Clark's "Cool Struttin.'" It's a reissue, so I guess it's a Classic Records reissue. Visual inspection revealed some sections of the groove that appeared stran .......

if you feel the aluminum top plate provides something (grounding, shielding, etc... just bond it or screw it to the underside of your wooden top plate. done! .......

You are correct, Abel, but you want to clamp it down completely so the outer portion and the inner portion of the LP is clamped flat against the platter. The concave platter also helps flatten out war .......

I think the brushed look is a result of deburring the holes in the chassis plate after the holes are punched/drilled/cut or whatever. That's how it looks to me but we'll let Doc have the last word! If .......

I just bought a Teac E-1 demagnetizer on ebay. When turned on it buzzes. I tried to demagnetize a screwdriver as per the instructions (and as per what i read here) but it still attracts metal objects .......

CPL, please give me that last bit of advice! it seems to be working when i have "monitor mixer" selected in the patchbay/router tab, but it snaps and pops when i select "wavout s/pdif." it should work .......

I am using that card and I can tell you for sure that the S/PDIF output going to an inexpensive Channel Islands DAC is much better than the analog outputs. It's a good idea to get the D>A process out .......
