Abe, I just traded my old 2002 Tacoma with 340,000 on it and got an easy $3000. From the dealer! The 1st generation Tacomas 4x4 have a very nice resale value and yours is hardly broken in. ::: TOPIC:: .......

CB, I have adjusted my 1626 bias to the 25ma it should be and that helped some. I also lifted the grid choke again and clipped in a 470K resistor. Things are better, more so at lower volume. Still not .......

I was going through some of my original notes when I built these monoblocks and I had noted 25ma @ about 23-25v bias on the 1626, not 30v and 30 ma as tested. I put a 10R resistor between the B+ and o .......

I replaced the K40Y-9 .22 coupling cap with an orange drop of same value. Reconnected grid choke. Now it's back to the original issue with swings above .5v DC on the 1626 grid and distortion. ::: TOP .......

CB, I lifted 1 leg of the grid choke and clip lead connected a 470R in its place. Distortion was worse, and 1626 grid to ground voltages swung well over 15v with the meter set on DC (-15?). The meter .......

It acts as a voltage divider so depending on the lamp size reduced voltage and current limiting to the amp will result. Good for initial testing and capacitor reformation in a tube amp, not so good fo .......

I played with a 6sl7 rc coupled for a while and decided I liked the 6GK5 slightly better. 78 mu 11.5 ma (1 run 1.3v bias with 10ma) 5400 rp 6SL7 has more linear plate curves though...and you can have .......

I have used 6GK5 driving 1626 cap coupled with MQ grid chokes for output tube grid. I perferred the 6GK5 over anything else I tried...6922, 6n1p, several other I don't remember. 6CG7 was good, but not .......

I'm using EV SP12B with tweeters in an open baffle. Your combination should be very similar, I think the 12TRX is the same driver and tweeter just in a coaxial form. Buy a piece of plywood, cut a coup .......

I thought that might be what you were trying to do. When a transformer says it is rated at "8 watts", or "25 watts" that is a max power handling capability. The power output is based on your tube type .......

Most computer caps I've seen are too low of voltage to be of much use in a tube circuit. Maybe in a filament voltage doubler? Also, they are electrolytics, and usually can be easily bested by motor ru .......

I use Magnequest Robin Hood (RH-40) in my 1626 amp with very good results. I have the 8 ohm version and have used them with my 16 ohm EV SP12B open baffles with no issues. A little less power, but nic .......

Hi, That would be replacing the cathode resistor/cap with a battery, in my case a NiMH @ about 1.2-1.3v. Yes, the general rule with batteries in most applications seems to be at least 10X battery capa .......

I used the 6AU4GT bridge in my simulation. My understanding is that with a hybrid bridge, the vacuum tube is dominent, so the primary difference should be voltage drop. I'm not too worried about that .......

What about an EV SP12B? Pretty wide range, and often available on ebay. Add a T35B tweeter and X36 crossover for a full vintage speaker. Just make sure all the ohms match, they made both 16 and 8. I r .......

Jeff, FWIW I will also mention that I am using a 150hy 8ma 3700ohm 156C Hammond choke in the plate load of the driver. The idea is to reduce interstage modulation via the B+ robert .......

Eli, I just checked the data sheets on the 6GK5, it looks like a much better choice for my needs. Grid voltage right where I need it and in a very linear part of the curve, plenty of current to drive .......

I checked them and PconX does have the Mills in 12W 20K-100K. 2 of these in series for a driver running at 1 or 2 ma seems way overkill..... Since that is essentially doubling the cost of an already e .......

I have been doing some low voltage solar panel stuff and I found that the closer you size Schottkys to the actual voltage (within safety) the less voltage drop there is. This doesn't matter much at 25 .......

If you move existing circuits from one leg to a different leg, be sure that circuit has it's own neutral (white) wire. It was not uncommon in some areas to run a "multi-wire" circuit using 12/3 or sim .......

I have my motor apart and the bushings certainly look like oilite (sintered) bronze....for sure they are pressed powder metal. And there is no oil channel from the oil cup so there is no way for the o .......

I just read my Russco manual and it says that the Bodine motor has solid bronze bearings, not sintered. So if that is the case, I'm pretty sure there is no need to heat and soak to clean/impregnate. M .......

It sounds like a dry bushing to me. Sintered bushings are essentially a hard sponge with capillaries that hold and release oil. If you used a solvent to clean the bushings you may have thinned/removed .......

There are aluminum primers that will allow a good bond with other paints. I think Rustleum makes one, as do other companies. But if your stripping it all down, you might also think about either powder .......

I also use DD and the LP brushes. I have found that a spray bottle of purified water is very handy for rinsing both the brushes and the record. I use at least 3 rinses (1)before I wash (2)after I wash .......

Mosin, Not only is delrin almost impossible to glue, (we use it for the reasons you state) I don't think that there are currently any adhesives that will make a "permanent" bond to aluminum unless aci .......

I'm starting to get the urge to tinker with my ST70 with the Curcio upgrade driver board and 6cg7 tubes.....I am thinking I want to put the chassis into a larger/deeper wood frame (cosmetics and room) .......

I just bought a copy of volume 1 of The Traveling Wilburys on epay. It is the Warner Bros label. I haven't heard it yet, but I found out there are at least 2 other labels of this album, including a Wi .......

Guess I'm glad I asked. No coax IC. Another reason I'm rewireing is that one cart lead is too short (I had to tack solder an extension) and I don't really trust the old solder joints and the SME inlin .......

I am about to do my 1st tonearm rewire..... I have had a Thorens TD160 with a SME3009 II Improved (fixed headshell) for about 6 months, and it has just never lived up to my expectations. Decent bass, .......

This is the SME 3009 II Improved with the fixed head and an effective mass of 6.5 gm, should be a good match for a hi complience cart.....and although I certainly won't rule out a resonance problem, w .......

Thanks, the 1.8 and 1.25 are kinda the spec edges for this cart though....also, no dampening on this arm. I'll investigate the Micro Accoustics, and regarding the Dennon, would that be a 103 that I've .......

I used to have an XLM mkII Improved in my AR XA with stock arm....I was very happy with the sound, it was very clear, yet rich and musical... When the AR XA died I decided to upgrade to the Thorens 16 .......

Earlier I said I had Jan Phillips 6922 in the phono and GE 5 star 6201 in the line and it had great detail, but a little to forward on the upper mid vocals.....well actually it had a German "Spezial" .......

I'll try some tube rolling after I get the new TT setup....I have a variety of 12at7 6201 and 6211 to try in the line board, right now it has a GE 5 star 6201. For the phono, right now it has the 6922 .......
