Ok, so I have been on a quest for a great and inexpensive moving coil stepup transformer (and mic input transformer) and while trying to "do the math" on various winding ratios, I have run across some .......

It's not the circuit breaker - it never popped. And I tested the breaker for both channels and they were fine. I tested 3 of the 4 output transistors and I think at least 2 of them are dead because th .......

The Doc is correct. The 6sn7 scematic was chosen from the datasheet, and as Paul points out, it is not so easy to work backwards from a schematic to an operating point. The 6v6 is at the typical 49.5m .......

How about the Eminence Alpha 10 is a 160l box? Modeling shows an F3 of 35Hz and efficiency around 94 or 95dB. There is a speaker by pi that uses this in a slightly smaller box that seems well recieved .......

For me "fat" means compression, and "warm" means midrangey tonal balance. So to dial in this recipe with tubes, take your tube preamp of choice, and turn it up until it stops getting louder and starts .......

Here is what I was thinking for a low voltage 845 driver - 6sn7/6j5 DC coupled to a 1626 driver. Cheap for sure, and you get to use seperate filament transformers for the 1626s so that you don't have .......

Here is the schematic. Why not take the ultrapath concept to the driver tube? It shortens the "signal loop" between the driver and the output tube by a couple components. Hm - it does cause the input .......

I think that when I was building my amp that uses 6cj5 rectifiers, the tubes would buzz audibly when the filaments were floating. I don;t mean audibly as in you could hear it in the speakers, I mean y .......

Thank you :) I used the baffle step correction circuit exactly as designed by Martin King for his Lowther enclosures, and adapted for line level by PJ. I think the cutoff is about 400HZ. My simplistic .......

I am reconsidering the operating point of my 2a3 amp because of VoltSecond's elliptical load line analysis. Granted this was with a 211, not a 2a3, but all tube react this way to inductive loads right .......

There was a Heavy Metal in Valve where Brainiac mentions using a 70V line matching transformer on the output of the foreplay to drive headphones. That would be a nice Radio Shack solution :) I haven't .......

Ok, I'll throw this out there - basszilla. Combines 3 neat-o things: fullrange drivers, open baffles, and big ass 15" paper cone woofers :) Rated at "97 - 98 dB" efficient. Big room. Big speakers. :) .......
