A used Cary SLI-80 can often be found for reasonable money. Even better if it has all the F-1 options. One can and should spend a lot of time/money searching out tubes to taste (no EH for me, thanks.) .......

My experience is that dacs have dramatically improved over the last 20 years. Among others, I've owned Wadia, Accuphase, and Lector cd players. The Marantz SA KI Ruby that I bought this year is my fav .......

I had replaced the stock fuse in my Cary SLI-80 with a Synergistic Blue. It was dramatically better. In due course, I replaced the Blue with the Orange. It's incrementally better, but it *is* better. .......

Quite possibly. I use a simple but effective Nordost Q Base power strip. Installing a Furutech GTX-D NCF (R) onto the dedicated line made everything better yet. .......

It gummed up the works. Stabilant 22 is an excellent cleaner/enhancer with no documented downside. It lasts a very long time and I prefer it to the Caig products. .......

I think you're correct about master tape availability. And yes, all my Japanese pressings are flat and quiet (though sometimes up tilted in tonal balance. Pretty sure all the original MoFi were presse .......

Three Orea Bronze for $150 seems pretty inexpensive to me considering the results. I've tried many "footers" over the years and these are the best bang for buck. Imho, ymmv, good will to all, etc. ::: .......
