Agreed. I have the LRS on Magna Risers and they sound better to me then my 1.6's. Although I am picking up some 3.7's Thursday so that should be interesting... .......

Yes cut-throat, I have the same thing going as you. I have 2 external hard drives here with 16/44.1 or better stuff on them but like you, it's around 75,000 tracks which does not compare to 40 million .......

2nd one is about 60% better. At least the speed is CLOSE now with the pitch slider at "0" and the variation in speed whilst playing is much less. So, it was worth the effort exchanging it.... ::: TOPI .......

I did realize that my subwoofer plate amps have 120/240 switches on them. And my 4 r2r decks have a simple solder connection to change them from 110/120 to 220/240V So those won't be an issue. Wish al .......

Agreed that LP also has its limitations during large dynamic swings/crescendos sometimes. Does not seem to affect the format as badly as tape though. R2R *IS* the solution to the problem with regar .......

Cannot beat a high ips 2-track copy of anything analog based on my experience. Hell, I even think it sounds BETTER then the original in some cases (i.e. high speed 15 ips 2 track copy of a 4-track 7.5 .......

Agreed. The little Sony tunes like a mother. It has the best reception of any of my tuners. Matter of fact, even with the cheap ass dipole the Sony comes with, it can pull in stations almost as well .......

Not a good comparison there. Only because you mention the EMU 0404. This is a DAC I have compared to $7k plus DAC's and still liked the 0404 more! IMHO, that little thing runs with ANYTHING, any DAC, .......

A to D is great. I've begun capturing lp's and open reel tapes to 24/192. Sounds damn near identical to the source. All the software you need to make this happen comes with the EMU. .......

It all comes down to source material. Sometimes a redbook cd beats vinyl, sometimes the other way round. Same goes for hi-rez digital---more bits and sample rate USUALLY means better sound if its how .......

I'm not familiar with what a MOBO usb is or a havana dac. But, if your pc has usb out somehow then that connects to the EMU. Then the EMU rca's (you will need adapters to make them rca's cause the EMU .......

Yep, you're missing something. 24/192 is possible over USB. Very few know how to do it. EMU and Edirol are two of the companies that know how to do it right. The high end is years behind on this matte .......

Same player, just the changer version. It was also $250 on Music Direct but I don't see it there anymore. All I can say is from a SOUND QUALITY standpoint, it's the best universal player I've ever own .......

Didn't catch his error, thanks. Thought he meant the polarity tests. There is one on test cd#1 whereby DURING the recording, they switch absolute polarity so you can hear immediatly what sounds better .......

Nothing wrong with the arm here. Works and sounds great. The whole turntable, with the "weak point" arm and the "good cartridge" 103 runs circles or at least competes with tables worth 2-10 times as .......

Forgot to mention that, great question and point. They wre using Bryston 1000w monoblocks. Each channel of Bryston power ran into their relative side "woofer" and then the woofer ran through the xover .......

The "woofers" are reasonably priced, thankfully. Keep in mind the $500 is for a bare bones model and does not come with the glass look or lamp. My thought personally was, "who cares about those things .......

Yes, finding the "good" tech part is not the easiest. Based on my experience, you can be ripped off if you don't know what your doing. Your almost better finding someone on one of the forums who lives .......

Cost is a consideration. Tape is not cheap and digital is. Different strokes for different folks and I respect your decision. BTW, the Akai 636 is a great machine for what it is, nothing to be ashamed .......

On my Otari's that have direct head out wiring I can compare the internal electronics to an external solution, like the tube Bottlehead Seduction I own, in real time. That Seduction was a big step up .......

Though I will say the Black was quite a bit better then my Blue (which I returned) sonically. I think there was a pretty big difference between the two---I was able to level match them in real time be .......

MikeL has a very high end R2R setup posted here and I don't want anyone to be put off by that. You do NOT need to get to that level of expenditure to still beat your vinyl. I have heard this at my hom .......

Hi Mike, Even on my more modest open reel and LP setups, there is no comparison between the Tape Project tapes and their "other format" counterparts. IMHO you don't need a top level 15 IPS RTR machine .......

I have commercial open reel tapes that are fifty plus years old that sound fantastic and some much better then their equivalent LP's (re-issue or not)! Only if abused, mis-stored in humid/hot conditio .......

Hi, Well, I think the best thing to do is just send you a cdr of the Black that was made for me by inmate "Bry". That will tell you all you need to know. I have confidence in the cdr as it captures 95 .......
