I definitely second the 64bit JPlay! I have yet to hear a *bad* review of JPlay that couldn't be attributed to some other type of setup issue. .......

For about the same price ($150) I can recommend the Cardas Clear... Certainly better than a default cable. I haven't tried any of the "expensive" ones though (nor the Kimber one - it's probably quite .......

J River Media 16 (17 is out now, haven't tried it)... Second to none media management (well - not as good as iTunes) but the most important reason is sound quality compared to other "full featured" me .......

I'm actually glad you mentioned the Alison Krauss examples actually... I have both as well. On my computer ripped as WAV and the 24/96 version from HD tracks. The bass is *so* much better on the one 2 .......

And that was my argument exactly... There *has* to be more to it then a "bandwidth flat beyond 30 kHz". Like I said, I can certainly hear a difference. Listen - my wife knows 320 kbps, 24/96 and 24/19 .......

ASIO works absolutely wonderfully with the Ayre... So does WASAPI (you could that's the "Windows" version of ASIO). I prefer the sound of ASIO. I'd say it's more "there" (as in "live" - which I like .......

Pre-Amp... I have a very good receiver (Marantz SR9200) and even a cheap pre beats it hands down. I would especially recommend almost anything with tubes. Good Luck! Jeff .......
