no matter if you use a VTA on the fly or not. I use the Graham Phantom and the VTA screw is useful when I change cartridge with another armwand. Or a much thicker record. Bob Graham has now added a mi .......

Well, the VTF is optimized in the cartridge factory so the cantilever suspension has the ideal angle for the stylus in the groove. VTA should be set for the cartridge to be absolute parallel to the re .......

For example Jan Allaerts recommends 1.800 grams VTF, his cartridges are voiced for that exactly, if you don't follow his specs , everything goes wrong. VTF is very important for the angle of the stylu .......

My slate plinths are cutted by robot computerised through AutoCad graphic design here in Belgium. Very high quality standards and fair prices. Still "Hand made" for the finishing. Here is a pic of raw .......

Totaly agree with you, Pete. The plinth should not be a band aid for bad drives. But it helps a lot even for the good ones. A special mention for the TD 124: the rubber belt should never be too tight, .......

My 301 and 124 are on 50 Kg slate plinths and are completely silent. 124 is more tricky to adjust than 301. Lenco is the best on this subject. Spindle is important, but the most important is the tight .......

The thicker the better, if you use wood, closed layers to allow motor and mechanichal parts to move and damp vibrations . If you use slate, a thickness of 7 cm is enough with cutout of the template. H .......

Who graciously gave me my father's turntable. He dyed when I was 15. That is the reason why I gave the best of myself to turn it into a great sounding turntable. It is sounding better than my VPI TNT .......

Yes Steve, I had the Phantom before. And before the Phantom I had the 1.5 tc. No comparison, Phantom is much better. I have the SME 3009 and 3012 but the Phantom is incredible on the TD124, even bette .......

Why not ? TD 124 is still one of the best TT out there. I think the Phantom will match it like couple made in haven... .......

I upgraded from the 1.5 tc to Phantom a year ago and I totaly agree with your review. This arm is a killer tracker and makes about everything right for a tonearm. One of the most cartridge friendly an .......

With Lyra Titan Breuer is giving deeper soundstage. Phantom is very good and more user friendly. .......

VPI is not planning a RIM drive for the single motor unit. But if you just upgraded to Superplatter and still have the old platter may I suggest a very effective and free upgrade: use your old platter .......

Very nice slate plinth, John ! OMA are doing a wonderful job with slate plinths. I also want to give my TD 124 MKII one of those but I can't decide between single layer ( quite big but fitting 12" arm .......

I can give you my opinion about Graham Slee Revelation+Elevator compared to the Tron Seven tube phonopreamp.Of course this is all cartridge/tonearm/TT dependent.Tron excells with low output carts and .......

Koetsu Urushi has magical midrange. True. But Jan Allaerts MC1 MKII has magical from top to bottom in the same price range. If you want Stellar cartridge the MC2 Finish Gold is incredible. Need a top .......

Well Jim, the biggest vibration control will be with a set of 3 Rollerblocks Jr. with 3 couplers. You can use a svelte shelf instead of Ultra platform, it is a little less effective but much less expe .......

I have tryed many coupling devices under my VPI TNT and the most effective is Symposium Rollerblocks Jr. on Ultra platform. Results nothing less than stellar. .......

Mylar belt is slipping on the motor shaft wheel and doesn't stay on track. So I have to machine a concave path on it to avoid slipping. I must say that the speed stability is very good with nylon thre .......

The contact between the 2 platters is a Michell rubber belt around the superplatter. Any good rubber belt fitting will do. I am working on Mylar belt between motor shaft and rim platter, but difficult .......

Correct Powermatic. This is a thruly budget tweak, using spare parts on the superplatter upgrade. BTW don't understate the effectivenes of the Symposium Ultra platform, it is realy a very good passive .......

Dear nameci, I tryed direct coupling plinth to platform with Symposium couplers and the results were much much better with Rollerblocks. Side rocking is buffered by contact between the 2 platters, inc .......

good question. The rollerblocks are acting differently in this application. They act as a buffer on the horizontal plane to give a smooth controled pressure between the platters, the frequency of vibr .......
