I do not have experience with Bel Canto DAC 1.1, but have lived with the previous version 1.0 for a couple of years. Therefore I am not sure how much of my comments would be relevant to your situation .......

Upon further experimentation, it appears that the emphasized upper midrange comes from half-assed setup of mana soundbases. Without mana there's no problem, so I just gotta learn how to set up mana co .......

I also use the Elites. Ken is right - the ribbon tweeter is very detailed, articulate, dynamic, sweet and refined. I would never call it "shrill" or "harsh". I do think that there's a narrow frequency .......

I have a roksan deck with removable spindle - the designer thinks it is best to decouple the disc from the platter, so that the vibration gets to the disc as little as possible. .......

I have no problem with people pursuing accuracy an neutrality thingie. My problem is that the usual systems labeled as "accurate and neutral" by typical audiophiles sound neither accurate nor neutral .......

If you bought the new DV from a legitimate US dealer, try contacting Mike Pranka, the US distributor of DV. He may be able to give you a "special price" for the replacement cartridge. He is a real gem .......

Not sure if it answers your question, but I have recently bought a new Dynavector Karat 17d2 mk.II cartridge, and it came with silver colored screws. They don't appear to be magnetic though. ::: TOPIC .......

If you want to try different, but equally great performances, there's Oistrakh/Ormandy/Philadelphia from Sony and Vengerov/Abbado/Berlin from Teldec. I guess it helps that both violinists are Russians .......

I only changed the EL-34's from Sovtek to Svetlana. The zippy treble disappears indeed, and the sound is a bit more smooth and liquid, but not overly so IMHO. I'm pretty happy with the change, especia .......

My CJ (bought new) came with 4 Sovtek EL-34, 1 Chinese 12AU7, 2 Phillips 12AX7, and 2 6SN7 without any identification. As for the biasing, the red light can be ignored in the first couple of minutes. .......
