I've seen I can upgrade the goldring's stylus for the same price as a decent grado, so I might play it safe and do that. The D12GX has a gyger 2 stylus. Has anyone used one of this sort? Jim ::: TOPIC .......

Folks, I'm on my second 1006 and it's time for a stylus / cart replacement. I fancy a change and I'm looking in the same ballpark £. I've read good things about the grado green in this forum recently! .......

yes - the price of these Ecler mixers are unbelievable! yes again, the Quad phonostage is not great. I'll definitely be trying out some phono stages with both of my amps, get a feel for what's on offe .......

I was given a faulty (headphone input) 'Ecler' DJ mixer a while ago, tested it, and was very surprised at the quality of sound it produced via the phono input. I then put it away and forgot about it. .......

Its odd because I know my ears aren't what they used to be (I play drums and other loud instruments) but treble is what goes first isn't it. So why does bass change? What I tend to do to check is put .......

Sounds familiar. I note that one of the first things to suffer with a slack tt belt is the bass. Perhaps minor fluctuations in power during periods of high load on the grid affect the performance of t .......

Has anyone else noticed this phenomenon? Every 4 months or so, my table / system appears to lose bass, and in a week or so, goes back to normal?! I'm sure its a case of perception , but how does it ha .......

I have a noisy copy of crimson king and wet playback the noise just disappears. I used to clean my records then play them back wet in an effort to dig out the last bits of gunk; sometimes it's effecti .......

A good suggestion: thanks. I was also wondering, what with all the work I have done in levelling, damping, plinth replacing, slate stand-aplacing......... is this just the best performance I can get ( .......

In terms of a table, I think that a table has to start off with a very well balanced midrange. It's the core of the music. When you place it on a good isolation stand, it's unavoidable sonic character .......

Something which interests me is, when using HFNRR test record, the 'best' or cleanest sound I can get out of my table seemes to be an anti skate setting which results in only the slightest, 'flickerin .......

In the instructions on my copy of the test record, one is advised to listen out for 'splutter, crackle and harmonics of the tone' So it may be that the cartridge is mistracking and the crackle is not .......

Its a TD160, I've had it for a long time. Really my focus used to be on amps and speakers, and in the last year or so I've simply tried to focus on getting this table performing well. So far, so good, .......
